Middlebury Community Players are bringing the raucous musical comedy Spamalot to the Town Hall Theater April 23-May 3. With a cast of 25 local actors, singers & dancers, Spamalot is lovingly ripped of?f from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This Broadway hit is an irreverent parody of the legend of King Arthur and his knights and was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three, including Best New Musical for 2005. Rude Frenchmen, cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, Killer rabbits, catapulting cows, and the somewhat odd Knights who say "ni" are just part of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his knights in their quest for the Holy Grail. Spamalot is all singing, all dancing silliness and pokes fun at theatre while reveling in the gaiety of live performance! "I defy anyone to go and not have a really fun evening. It's the silliest thing I've ever seen," says Monty Python founding member John Cleese.

Shows are 8pm on Thursdays-Saturdays, April 23-25 and April 29-May 3, with Sunday matinees at 2pm on April 26 and May 3. The May 3rd Sunday matinee will have American Sign Language interpretation. Tickets are $15 for the Thursday nights, and $23 adults/$18 students with ID for all other shows. Town Hall Theater Box Office, Monday-Saturday, noon to 5pm, 802-382-9222, or online at www.townhalltheater.org.

Spamalot is led by the production team of Director/Set-Designer Dora Greven, Vocal Music Director Sarah Stone, Choreographers Kendra Gratton, Alyson Young and Nancy Wollum, Costume Designer MaryKay Dempewolff, Producers Mary Longey and Louise Vojtisek, and Stage Managers Eileen Corcoran and Kat Marshall.
