Middlebury Actors Workshop is pleased to present Seminar by Theresa Rebeck.

A recent hit on Broadway, Seminar is a provocative comic drama from Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck, an author known for her funny and incisive work. Rebeck runs a playwright's retreat at her home in Dorset Vermont, in affiliation with Dorset Theater Festival.

In Seminar, four aspiring young novelists sign up for private writing classes with Leonard, an international literary figure. Under his recklessly unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, hearts are unmoored and destinies discovered.

"We get to watch four young writers learn, often the hard way, what it means to be an artist in the literary landscape today", says director Lourie. "It's an intimate look at the challenges and absurdities and opportunities we face as we seek to figure out who we are and what we can accomplish in the world."

MAW welcomes a cast of four terrific young actors from out of state, including University of Vermont graduate Lida Benson and Middlebury College grad, Jack DesBois. Playing the formidable role of Leonard is Roy Cutler, of Burlington, and playing the role of Martin, his young protégé, is Sam Finn Cutler, Roy's son, and a recent graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Aryana Sedarati, of NYC, completes the cast.

Melissa Lourie directs the show, which clocks in at a taut 90 minutes of delicious and thought-provoking action.

The play contains mature language and situations and is not suitable for children.

Seminar, at Town Hall Theater, April 21 - 23.

Shows at 7:30 pm and 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 23.
