Dinosaur Zoo helped announce the new partnership when children from both charities met the prehistoric puppets stomping down Buchanan Street before enjoying a live performance at the Theatre Royal. The venue also recently hosted the Architecture meets Art exhibition with all proceeds from their art auction going to ENABLE Scotland, while at the King's Theatre a family receiving support from CHILDREN 1st enjoyed a performance of Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom before meeting the stars of the show. Ongoing support will continue across both theatres and staff are brainstorming some exciting fund-raising ideas.

King's and Theatre Royal General Manager James Haworth said: "The staff and visiting theatre companies have always been strong advocates of charity work and in recent years we have raised thousands of pounds for local organisations. This year we plan to concentrate our efforts as we believe this will make a significant impact on our chosen charities; Children 1st and ENABLE Scotland.

"Here at the King's and Theatre Royal access for all is extremely important to us; we have dedicated access champions, we offer captioned, signed and audio described performances and have introduced relaxed performances of our legendary panto. In addition to fund raising for the charities' vital services we hope to work closely with CHILDREN 1st and ENABLE Scotland to ensure more families can experience the magic of theatre."

CHILDREN 1st, Scotland's leading children's charity, work to ensure every child and young person across the country has a happy, healthy, safe and secure childhood. CHILDREN 1st campaign for every child in Scotland to enjoy the best possible start in life and for no child to grow up in fear of abuse or violence.

Kate Smith, Director of Fundraising, from CHILDREN 1ST said: "We put children and families at the heart of everything we do, so we're delighted to be chosen by The Kings and the Theatre Royal, along with ENABLE, to benefit from their fundraising efforts. As well as raising vital funds it's also a great opportunity to raise awareness among families that we're here to help."

ENABLE Scotland works to ensure that people who have learning disabilities have the choice and control to live the life they choose. The charity has been campaigning for the rights of people who have learning disabilities for over 60 years and continues to challenge attitudes to create a fairer society for people who have learning disabilities.

Jan Savage, Director of Campaigns and External Affairs from ENABLE Scotland said: "We're delighted to have the Ambassador Theatre Group on board as our fundraising partner this year. We have lots of exciting fundraising initiatives happening at the King's and Theatre Royal over the coming months and the funds raised will support our campaigning work as well a range of community based projects which improve the lives of children and adults who have learning disabilities across Scotland."
