The Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) have announced Corey Mitchell, Theater Arts Teacher at the Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, N.C., as the winner of the inaugural Excellence in Theatre Education Award. This year's finalists were Marianne Adams, Director of Education at the Grandstreet Theatre School in Helena, Mont., and Donald Hicken, Theatre Department Director at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Baltimore, Md.

For the first time since 1983 with LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, an Off-Broadway musical, HAMILTON, has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical! The 60th Annual Drama Desk awards took place Sunday night, Sunday, May 31st at 8pm at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street). The Tony Awards today announced that more than 175 performers will join Josh Groban on-stage for a special performance - the most performers in a single number in Tony Awards history - at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday night for the 69th Annual Tony Awards.
