The critically-acclaimed nine-time Tony Award® winning HIT musical THE BOOK OF MORMON is heading to Sweden next year with the first non-english production of the show.

The cast has been annouced today with Swedish musical theatre artists Linus Wahlgren (RENT, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, BULLETS OVER BROADWAY) and
Per Andersson (ROCK OF AGES, LA CAGES AUX FOLLES) in the lead roles of Elder Price and Elder Cunningham.

"I've been wanting to do this musical since the first time I saw it!" Wahlgren says to Aftonbladet.

- It is one of the best musicals ever made! It is an "old school" musical with big dance numbers and really powerful songs. But it is also a very funny story about these two Mormons."

Swedish theatre-director and "West End Star" jury member - Anders Albien is directing the show. But the audience can not expect any major changes to the original version. The American creative team and rights holders want this production to stay close to the original American.

- The backbone is so good that we should not change it but you can refine it. And then make your own version of the character, says Per Andersson (Elder Price)

Norwegian musical theatre actress SAMANTHA GURAH (HAIR, PARADE) will play the role of Nabalungi.

THE BOOK OF MORMON is a religious satire musical which tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries sent to a remote village in northern Uganda, Africa where a brutal warlord is threatening the local population. Naïve and optimistic, the two missionaries seek to share their sacred Book of Mormon with the Ugandans and save their souls for Jesus. Problem is, the locals are more worried about pressing troubles such as war, famine, poverty and AIDS than about the after-life.

The book, lyrics, and music are by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are most well known for their creation of the animated TV series South Park. Lopez wrote songs for Disney Animation's feature film Frozen.
