The Department of Theatre and Film at UBC aims to develop each student’s imaginative, technical and intellectual skills as they prepare to embark on a career in theatre and film, whether it be in practice or research. We offer a variety of programs at the undergraduate and graduate level in various theatre and film areas including acting, cinema & media studies, creative writing, design and production, directing, film production, film studies and theatre studies. In each program, our courses provide students with both the knowledge and practical experience of each discipline. Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people, we are a community of faculty members, practitioners, students, research and support staff, all working together to advance the study and practice of theatre and film.
