Since 1963, when Dr. Jacint Vilardell founded the contest in memory of the famous Catalan tenor Francesc Viñas, the event has achieved international renown, with the support of the most important opera theaters in the world.

Have Tamara Wilson as 2011, Javier Camarena in 2005, Violeta Urmana 1992, Zeljko Lucic 1997, Antonio Gandia 2004, Vicente Sardinero and also won the competition in 1965. 54th edition of the International Singing Competition.
