Manhattan School of Music held its 88th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 16, 2014 at The Riverside Church (located at 490 Riverside Drive, New York City). This year, degrees were awarded to 357 graduates from the School's graduate and under­graduate programs who come from 46 states and more than 40 countries. Aurora Theatre continues the 2013-2014 Harvel Lab Series with a Teatro del Sol production, Mariela in the Desert by Karen Zacarias. It is 1950 and artists Mariela and Jose are living an isolated existence in the desert of Northern Mexico, haunted by the ghost of their young son. Jose is very ill and Mariela sends a telegram to their daughter encouraging her to come home. Where once the walls were beautifully decorated, now only one painting remains, and it is shrouded in mystery. This play will be performed in Spanish with English supertitles. This production features an amazing cast including the stunning Blanca Aguero in the title role of Mariela and Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony P. First Look at ELIS, A MUSICAL premiering in Săo Paulo

The city of Săo Paulo opens this week a original Brazilian musical that honors the woman Elis Regina, famous Brazilian singer who made her career that was acclaimed throughout the country during the 60s, 70s and 80s. On March 12, 2014 the show was presented to the press at 'Teatro Alfa', announcing its arrival in Săo Paulo (after the smash hit in the city of Rio de Janeiro last year).
