Genau so viel Mut wie ihre Heldin Eliza bewiesen Alan Jay Lerner und Frederick Loewe 1956, als sie aus George Bernard Shaws erfolgreicher »Romanze in 5 Akten« Pygmalion ein Musical machten. Doch diese Courage zahlte sich aus - MY FAIR LADY wurde zu dem Musical überhaupt und stellt auch 60 Jahre nach seiner Uraufführung am Broadway noch überraschende Fragen an die Bedeutung von Bildung und Verhalten für unser Fortkommen und das Verhältnis von intellektueller und emotionaler Intelligenz für unser Zusammenleben - verpackt in einer immer noch bezaubernd ehrlichen Variante des Aschenputtel-Motivs. Das Theater Kiel inszeniert den Klassiker in dieser Spielzeit nun unter der Leitung von Ricarda Regina Ludigkeit. Die Premiere fand am vergangenen Samstag statt, und Publikum wie Presse zeigten sich gleichermaßen beeindruckt. (more...)

Last night in a Long Island star studded event The Gold Coast International Film Festival and Arts Center held it's 2015 Gala at the Tilles Center. The Gold Coast Arts Center's honorees this year were, Vince Giordano, Artist of Distinction - Music, Actor Navid Negahban, Artist of Distinction, Film, and Director Patricia Riggen, Director, Woman of Influence Award.  The evening's presenters were Will Friedwald, author & music editor, Michael Cuesta, Screenwriter, director of Showtime's "Homeland" and Lou Diamond Phillips, Actor Director and the star of the upcoming fiom "The 33" The Gala Emcee was Award winning WABC correspondent Kristin Thorne.  Regina Keller Gil is founder & executive director of The Gold Coast Arts Center and Caroline Sorokoff is an associate director of the Gold Coast Arts Center and Director of the Gold Coast International Film Festival.  The festival will run November 9-15th. It is co-directed by Dayton Contemporary Dance Company Artistic Director Debbie Blunden-Diggs, who also serves as choreographer, and Human Race Theatre Founding Resident Artist Scott Stoney. Last night (May 19), The Alliance for Women in Media, presented the 40th Anniversary of The Gracies Awards to a packed house at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the gala, which also celebrated the organization's 40 years of achievements. In honor of that milestone, The Gracies Commemorative Awards were handed out on stage to honorees in recognition of their stellar accomplishments over the years. Guests were greeted by the musical talents of DJ Amy Pham. During the Commemorative Awards ceremony, music icon Linda Perry performed a striped down version of 'What's Up,' and a moving rendition of Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful.' Scroll down for photos! Greed and familial betrayal is at the darkly comic heart of The Little Foxes by Tony Award-winning playwright Lillian Hellman. Artistic Associate Henry Wishcamper directs the classic 1939 play about wealth's corrupting power-one of Hellman's most notable works, which was adapted into a 1941 film starring Bette Davis-centering on the Hubbard family's ruthless pursuit in the South's post-bellum economic slump.
