Broadway veteran and GLEE star Jonathan Groff stars opposite original cast member Alfred Molina in the Los Angeles premiere of RED at the Mark Taper Forum. Groff plays Ken (orignally played by Tony winner Eddie Redmayne) in the play, alongside Molina who reprises his Tony-nominated role as Mark Rothko. STAGES Performing Arts Academy expanded their teen performance workshop this Summer by moving to the state-of-the-art Skip Viragh Center for the Arts at Chaminade College Preparatory School. The three-week program features professional teachers, directors, and guest artists from around the country, resulting in a final full-scale production of Urinetown: The Musical. As STAGES Performing Arts Academy teens neared the end of the rehearsal process, they were greeted by a surprise audience member. On August 2nd, Hunter Foster, who originated the lead role of Bobby Strong in the first Broadway production of Urinetown, stopped in to catch the final dress rehearsal of the show, offering a very special "break a leg" to the young cast. Ferdinand Kingsley plays both God and Jesus opposite Coronation Street villain Graeme Hawley who takes on the role of the Devil in the York Mystery Plays being staged throughout August against the backdrop of the St Mary's Abbey, York. Kingsley and Hawley are joined by more than 2,500 people in the staging of what is believed to be the UK's biggest outdoor theatrical event of 2012. With over 1,700 local volunteers comprising the two casts of community ensemble, musicians, choir and crew, the York Mystery Plays run now through 27 August at 7.30pm.
