A rare revival of Rocket to the Moon, the 1938 play by Clifford Odets (Awake and Sing, Golden Boy) will soonplay Theatre at St. Clement's. Directed by Obie and Lucille Lortel Award winner Dan Wackerman (Counsellor-at-Law), Rocket to the Moon will play a limited engagement beginning February 10th at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street). The romantic and richly textured tale of East versus West, THE KING AND I, is now playing at The Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire, IL., where it opened on October 29, and will run through January 4, 2015. Nick Bowling (Juno and The Normal Heart at Timeline Theatre) makes his Marriott Theatre directorial debut with a fresh take on this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, merging history and romance with today's social and political issues. THE KING AND I takes audiences on an uplifting journey of the power of education as characters transform from instructor to students themselves, learning from one another in the process. In consultation with the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute of Chicago, Bowling and Choreographer Tommy Rapley will explore ancient Siamese customs, dance and traditions, and bring them to life on stage.

The OBIE Award-winning NAATCO, National Asian American Theater Company, kick off their 24th season with Clifford Odets's Awake & Sing! Stephen Fried directs an all-Asian American cast that includes Sanjit De Silva, Mel Duane Gionson, Andrew Ramcharan Guilarte, Mia Katigbak, Teresa Avia Lim, Jon Norman Schneider, David Shih, Alok Tewari, and Henry Yuk. This Off-Broadway limited engagement began August 16th at Walker Space (46 Walker Street) and continues through September 8th only. Opening Night is set for August 21st (8pm). In their short existence, the theatre has taken on the Israeli-Palestine conflict, racial hatred, and now unionism and big business. No wonder the venue bills itself as 'Akron and Northeast Ohio's home for kick-a** theater!.'
