The 2012 Grammy Awards were last night, and the nominees for 'Best Musical Theater Album' were THE BOOK OF MORMON, ANYTHING GOES, and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has broken the house record of Broadway's Eugene O'Neill Theatre for the 18th time. The show earned $1,337,952.07 in the 1,068-seat O'Neill, one of Broadway's smallest theatres, for the week ending Sunday, October 9, 2011. Songwriter Robert Lopez won the Tony Award in 2004 for his AVENUE Q score. Now, he's written the score to another Broadway hit - THE BOOK OF MORMON. Lopez recently sat down at the piano in the Soundcheck studio to talk about the musical collaboration with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
