From playwright David Ives and director Walter Bobbie, the creative team behind CSC's critically acclaimed production of New Jerusalem, comes Venus in Fur, a new play based on one of literature's most infamous erotic novels. Dora Awards 2014: A List Of All The Winners!

It was an incredible night for Toronto theatre when our community joined together to celebrate another year of performing arts in Toronto on June 23rd at the WestJet Stage at the Harbourfront Centre. For the 2013-2014 season, 143 producing companies (up 41 from last season's 102) registered eligible productions. A total of 48 Dora Awards, plus the Silver Ticket Award and the Audience Choice Award, were given out in a glittering ceremony hosted by Matt Baram and Naomi Snieckus, founding Co-Artistic Directors of the three-time Canadian Comedy Award-winning The National Theatre of the World. The Book Club will focus on titles that relate to the themes being shown on the Gulfshore Playhouse stage throughout the season. Thomas, a beleaguered playwright/director, is desperate to find an actress to play Vanda, the female lead in his adaptation of the classic sadomasochistic tale Venus in Fur. Into his empty audition room walks a vulgar and equally desperate actress-oddly enough, named Vanda. When the realities of combat become too much for James, a rift begins to form between them. After Sarah is wounded in a bomb blast in Iraq, she is forced to return home to James and the safety, and comparative boredom, of New York.
