Strawdog to Open 27th Season with THE ARSONISTS, Opening 8/25

Strawdog Theatre Company and Artistic Director Hank Boland have announced the first production of their 2014 - 2015 season, Max Frisch's The Arsonists, August 15 - September 27, direction by Matt Hawkins and adapted by Alistair Beaton, at Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N. Broadway St. Preview performances are Friday, Aug. 15 and Today, Aug. 16, Thursday, Aug. 21 and Friday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. Today, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. is the Board Preview. The opening night performance is Monday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays - Todays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. An industry performance is Monday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. Single tickets are currently on sale for $15 for preview performances, $50 for the Board Preview performance that includes appetizers, open bar and a reception immediately following the production, and $28 for the regular run. The Firebugs is a dark comedy by Swiss playwright Max Frisch. Gottlieb Biedermann, a cautious German businessman, discovers that the two men who have entered his home disguised as salesmen are the arsonists who have already burned down much of the town. He and his wife, concerned only with saving themselves and their home, lodge them, feed them a sumptuous dinner, and provide them with all the matches they can possibly use -- all of which serves only to postpone the inevitable holocaust. NVA presents the West Coast Premiere of SWEET STORM, 4/20-5/15

New Village Arts is proud to present the West Coast Premiere of Scott Hudson's two-hander SWEET STORM. Directed by Ensemble Member Daren Scott, SWEET STORM features Ensemble Member Adam Brick with Kelly Iversen as young newlyweds in 1960's Florida, spending their wedding night in a romantic treehouse built by Bo for his new wife Ruthie. SWEET STORM will be playing at New Village Arts Theatre (2787 State Street, Carlsbad Village) from April 20 - May 15, 2011. The official opening night is April 23 at 8 PM.
