Peter Pan, like its namesake, is a tale which never ages. Children and adults alike have all fallen under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and exciting, frightening adventures happen every day.

In 1985 Piers Chater Robinson adapted J.M. Barrie's book for the stage, and now, 25 years later, his innovative Peter Pan musical score is well known and loved, performed in professional and amateur productions worldwide and is quickly becoming the most popular musical version of Peter Pan internationally. CYT is pleased to be selected as one of the first theaters in Chicagoland to produce it!

Join all your favorite characters: Peter Pan, Wendy, John, Michael, the dastardly Captain Hook and his sidekick Smee, Tiger Lily, the Lost Boys, Pirates, Neverland Indians, Fairies, Nana the pet dog and, of course, that scary crocodile as CYT travels to Neverland like you've never experienced it before.

Last April I reviewed The Play That Goes Wrong for BroadwayWorldUK during its UK tour prior to its West End run. I enjoyed it immensely and the reaction to the production is clearly widespread as the production company recouped their investment within the first portion of their stint in London. BWW Reviews: Playhouse Does the 'Time Warp' AgainBWW Reviews: Playhouse Does the 'Time Warp' Again
by Joseph Baker - Feb 1, 2015

It's an interesting and unintentional coincidence: Peter Pan, which wrapped up Playhouse on the Square's Holiday Season, offered the younger set its first taste of transvestism, with musically gifted actresses alternating in the role of 'Peter' (talk about the incipience of gender confusion); now, as the New Year has begun, the older set has its exposure with Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien's THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. This isn't the first time Playhouse has allowed a cast and crew to indulge themselves in fishnet hose and makeup; I can recall previous performances of this guilty pleasure with the remarkable Mark Chambers (anyone who ever saw him 'strut his stuff' is not likely to forget his performance - 'boomers' who 'time warped' in the aisles still talk about it). I imagine that everyone involved in this production dived headfirst into their costume fittings with all the giddy zeal of children glamming it up at Halloween. (more...)
