13P Playwrights to Present Callaghan's 'Crawl, Fade to White'

13P (Thirteen Playwrights, Inc.), the OBIE Award-winning theater company made up of 13 playwrights, in association with Minetta Street Productions, will present the New York premiere of Sheila Callaghan's (P#7) 'CRAWL, FADE TO WHITE,' directed by Paul Willis. 'CRAWL. FADE TO WHITE' will be performed at the Ideal Glass Gallery (www.idealglass.org), 22 East 2nd Street (between Bowery and 2nd Avenue), with performances running from October 11 through November 1, 2008. The Alumnae Theatre Company's 'Palace of the End' is a searing triptych of monologues that present different perspectives on the war in Iraq. A young and pregnant American soldier - in disgrace for her treatment of Iraqi prisoners - tells us about 'My Pyramids'; a disillusioned British weapons inspector invites us to witness his suicide at 'Harrowdown Hill'; and an Iraqi woman shares the heartbreaking story of her family's torture in 'Instruments of Yearning'. The characters are all based on real people and events. The play runs from November 13 to 28. (more...)

Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre celebrates thirteen years of theatrical excellence next year with six mainstage productions and the return of the popular Storytellers Series. The 2009 season runs May-September with a special family friendly December production in time for the holidays. The organization has snagged the rights to produce one of the very first regional productions of Tom Stoppard's recent Broadway sensation Rock'n'Roll, and will present the play as the opener of the 2009 season, 'New and Ideal.' The season continues with the naughty-yet-sophisticated wit of Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw, the moral uncertainty of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt, the unbridled enthusiasm of Alan Bennett's students in The History Boys, and two classics of modern literature, Crime and Punishment and Jane Eyre, in phenomenal new adaptations for the stage.
