Pleasures and Palaces - 1965 - Broadway History , Info & More

Based on the 1961 comedy Once There Was a Russian by Sam Spewack

John Paul Jones goes to Russia in 1788 to fight the Turks for Catherine the Great. While there, he becomes embroiled in political and romantic intrigue: Catherine loves the devilish Potemkin, who adores the lusty, murderous Sura, who falls for oh-so-Presbyterian Jones one minute, then into Potemkin's arms the next.
