Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater, has announced the 26-member Broadway cast of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Newcomers to the cast include Gavin Creel, Caissie Levy and Sasha Allen, who join the rest of the tribe, who are reprising their roles from Central Park last summer. Inge's American Drama PICNIC Opens 4/2 At Stoneham Theater

Picnic, by William Inge, will open Thursday, April 2 at Stoneham Theatre. The classic American drama, set in a small Kansas town in the early 1950s, tells the story of Madge and Alan, a sweet young couple and Hal, the ex-football star and drifter who awakens Madge's true desires and shakes up the community. Most of the story takes place around a Labor Day picnic. Picnic was first produced on Broadway in 1953 with actor Paul Newman has Hal Carter. Inge received the 1953 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the work. (more...)

DESIRE UNDER THE ELMS Extends Its Run Until 3/1

Desire Under the Elms at Goodman Theater opens tonight. Rumors have spread that the show has Broadway in its sights, and hopes to come to New York next spring. The show has been extended before opening night, as it will now play through March 1. Goodman Theatre Artistic Director Robert Falls and renowned actor Brian Dennehy bring their artistic partnership to new heights with Eugene O'Neill's haunting drama, Desire Under the Elms-marking their fifth collaboration on O'Neill's work over two decades. Falls' cast includes stage and screen stars Carla Gugino (Entourage, Spy Kids, Sin City) Pablo Schreiber (Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Awake and Sing!), Boris McGiver (The Wire) and Daniel Stewart Sherman (Broadway's Cyrano de Bergerac). Inge's American Drama PICNIC Opens 4/2 At Stoneham Theater

Picnic, by William Inge, will open Thursday, April 2 at Stoneham Theatre. The classic American drama, set in a small Kansas town in the early 1950s, tells the story of Madge and Alan, a sweet young couple and Hal, the ex-football star and drifter who awakens Madge's true desires and shakes up the community. Most of the story takes place around a Labor Day picnic. Picnic was first produced on Broadway in 1953 with actor Paul Newman has Hal Carter. Inge received the 1953 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the work. (more...)
