Mr. Roberts has withdrawn from the production to attend to family matters. The New York premiere of this 2006 Olivier Award-winning play by Gerald Sibleyras with a translation by Tom Stoppard, will be helmed by Keen Artistic Director Carl Forsman and run from February 24 - April 11 at The Clurman Theatre / Theatre Row ( 410 West 42nd Street ). Kevin Kline, Katie Holmes, Paul Dano and John C Reilly will make up the cast of 'The Extra Man,' a comedy that will begin production in February in New York. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini of American Splendor fame will direct. The film is based on a novel by Jonathan Ames; Pulcini and Springer Berman wrote the script with the author. The two last directed the film 'The Nanny Diaries.' Kevin Kline has won Tony Awards for the musicals On the Twentieth Century and The Pirates of Penzance and most recently starred on Broadway in Cyrano de Bergerac. He also won the Academy Award for A Fish Called Wanda. Katie Holmes made her Broadway debut in recent hit revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons. Paul Dano starred Off-Broadway in Things We Want and is featured in the film There Will Be Blood. John C. Reilly's Broadway credits include True West and A Streetcar Named Desire among other stage productions. On film he has a long and varied list of credits including the recent Step Brothers with Will Ferrell and played Amos Hart in the film version of the hit musical Chicago. (more...)

The New York Times is reporting that famed Costume Designer Florence Klotz's Tony Award is for sale on eBay, the starting bid for the trophy at $10,000 (with an option to buy it outright for $20,000). But the Times has a huge inaccuracy in the piece, as they describe Ms. Klotz herself as posting the auction, which is fairly impossible as she sadly passed away in 2006. (more...)

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) continues its 2008-09 season Koret Visiting Artist Series with 'The Inner 'I': How Artists See Themselves,' a conversation with Lotfi Mansouri, celebrated opera director and the general director emeritus of the San Francisco Opera; Judy Kaye, the Tony Award-winning star of A.C.T.'s Souvenir; and the internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade. Moderated by A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff, the conversation will focus on the different ways artists view themselves and how these self-images affect their work. 'The Inner 'I' is presented in conjunction with A.C.T.'s production of Stephen Temperley's Souvenir, which tells the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite and tone-deaf diva who thought she was a great soprano. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
