The Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, nationally known for its interpretation of Stephen Sondheim musicals, celebrates its 20th anniversary season by presenting Sondheim's most popular musical SWEENEY TODD, directed by Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. The new production runs in the 276-seat MAX Theater, February 9 through April 4, 2010.

International singing sensation Marti Pellow will return to star as ‘Billy Flynn' in the UK National tour of the smash-hit musical 'CHICAGO' for six weeks only from Monday 18 January until Saturday 26 February 2010. Marti first played the role to great acclaim in the West End, subsequently repeating his performance in New York and on the UK national tour, playing to sell-out houses. Emma Barton, currently starring in the show on tour as ‘Roxie Hart', will continue to play the role opposite Marti Pellow.

YoungArts, the core program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA), is set to honor two internationally-acclaimed artists, dancer and choreographer Desmond Richardson and actress and director Liv Ullmann. Richardson will accept the YoungArts Alumni Award and Ullmann will accept the Arison Award at YoungArts' An Affair of the Arts Performance and Gala, January 16 at the Gusman Center and the Alfred I. DuPont Building. SunTrust Bank is Title Presenting Sponsor.

SocialMiami.com is reporting that director Liv Ullmann and Broadway veteran Desmond Richardson will receive YoungArts Awards granted by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts at the YoungArts Gala on January 16, 2010. The Gala is the culmination in a week long workshop provided by YoungArts that allows young artists to take master classes in the arts.

Casting has been announced for the new Broadway musical COME FLY AWAY, conceived, choreographed, and directed by Tony Award-winner Twyla Tharp and featuring vocals by Frank Sinatra. COME FLY AWAY will star Matthew Dibble, Holley Farmer, Laura Mead, Charlie Neshyba-Hodges, Rika Okamoto, Karine Plantadit, Keith Roberts and John Selya, all of whom were in last fall's acclaimed world premiere production at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre.

In a series that is unique because it develops new producers as well as new musicals, three works were chosen from submissions by emerging or established producers, as well as writers. On October 4, 2009 alumni from Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) will take the stage of The Theresa Lang Theatre to honor Professor Emeritus J. William Bordeau, who passed away on July 25. The MMC community will be celebrating Professor Bordeau's life with a memorial from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the College, 221 East 71st Street in New York City. The celebration of Bordeau's life will also be broadcast LIVE on the Web at www.mmm.edu. A cocktail reception will follow from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in The Great Hall at the College.
