At a press conference held at Barrington Stage Company's Stage 2, Artistic Director Julianne Boyd announced the complete season of performances that will take place in Downtown Pittsfield in the Mainstage, Stage 2 and Youth Theatre venues in 2012. BroadwayWorld.com reported the news exclusively on January 9, 2012 and now the The Public Theater has officially announced the line-up for the 50th Anniversary Shakespeare in the Park season at the Delacorte. Daniel Sullivan, who directed acclaimed productions of All's Well That Ends Well, The Merchant of Venice and Twelfth Night in the Park, will return to direct AS YOU LIKE IT in June with Lily Rabe as Rosalind. The second show of the 50th Anniversary summer season will be Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical INTO THE WOODS, directed by Timothy Sheader with co-direction by Liam Steel. Based on the Olivier Award-winning Regent's Park Open Air Theatre London production in 2010, The Public Theater's INTO THE WOODS will be an all new production with an American cast and designers and will be staged in one of the most beautiful outdoor venues in the world-the Delacorte Theater. INTO THE WOODS will begin performances at the end of July.

This spring, Park Avenue Armory and Creative Time will join forces with artist Tom Sachs to launch the next flight of his SPACE PROGRAM with an unprecedented four-week mission to Mars, all within Park Avenue Armory's soaring 55,000-square-foot drill hall.

The Kennedy Center's critically acclaimed Broadway production of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award®-winning musical Follies will transfer to the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles for six weeks, and as BroadwayWorld reported last month, Bernadette Peters will not continue on with the rest of the cast for the transfer of the production. Now we have confirmed that Tony winner Victoria Clark will take over the role of Sally in her place. Also now officially confirmed to transfer with the production are co-stars Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein, Ron Raines and Elaine Paige.

The full Broadway cast has been announced for The Stratford Shakespeare Festival's hit production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, directed by the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's Artistic Director Des McAnuff which will open March 22, 2012 (previews begin March 1) at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street).

Broadway's Teri Dale Hansen (The Boys from Syracuse, West End's Show Boat) and Nat Chandler (The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Phantom of the Opera) will appear in concert with a trio of musicians led by Mike Petry on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:00pm. The pair will perform Swingin' Holiday Celebration (produced by Broadway Pops International) featuring holiday favorites by Ellington, Guaraldi, Fitzgerald, Mercer and more.

Last weekend the folks at Disney Theatrical set me and my daughter up for a real treat. My eight-year-old, her friend and I along with other bloggers and columnists were all invited on a special preview tour of the New Amsterdam Theatre, home to Broadway's Mary Poppins. Previews will begin Tuesday, March 27. Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, Love Never Dies, Master Class and as Christine in last month's 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom of the Opera in London) will play the lead role of 'I'. Tony Award Nominee Michael Hayden (Carousel, Judgment at Nuremburg, 'Murder One') and Drama Desk Award winner Rachel York (Victor/Victoria, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) will star in the new musical Ghostlight, which will open on September 26th as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Hayden will play legendary showman Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr. with York as Billie Burke, his scorned wife, who was most famous for portraying Glinda in The Wizard of Oz.
