Thanks to the volcanic success of the Tony-winning musical Jersey Boys, which chronicles the life and times of Frankie and his legendary group, such classic songs as "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like a Man," "Rag Doll," and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" are all the rage all over again.

Edward Albee Meets Twitter at Playmakers Rep this December
by Larissa Mount - Dec 16, 2011

Playmakers Repertory Company recently approached me with an unconventional request - to use my phone during a play. Phone usage, while generally frowned upon, can potentially serve a legitimate function for a theater production. PRC was hosting a pilot-run "Tweet Seats" event, in which a group of people (seated respectfully in the back row) live-tweeted during a Tuesday night performance of Edward Albee's 1962 play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Live-tweeting has been a presence in the media lately - major newspapers have written about it, and theater companies across the country are trying it in various forms. It is a unique medium in which folks at home can interact with people who are actually watching the show. It has been successful in other venues - Jeff Probst tweets during every episode of Survivor - does it have a place in live theater? We'll see.

BWW Reviews: DLU Theatre's HAIRSPRAY Delivers Exactly What You Want In Musical Theater
by Jeffrey Ellis - Nov 4, 2011

You can hardly swing a cat in Nashville without hitting someone in costume as Edna Turnblad or her dancing progeny Tracy, so popular has the show become with local theaterati. But, truth be told, if I never live to see another Hairspray, I can now die a happy man: Because I saw director/choreographer Justin Boccitto's exceptional, extraordinary and exhilarating take on the show, starring a phenomenal cast of Lipscomb University theatre students who so brilliantly bring the now-iconic characters of 1962 Baltimore to life with thorough commitment and so much energy you can't help but leave the theater with a spring in your step and a song in your heart.
