In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Pear Theatre Board of Directors is has announced the appointment of their newest Artistic Director, Sinjin Jones. Jones, a recent transplant to the Bay Area, has been an artist and teacher of the arts for over a decade and was an Honorable Mention for the 2019 Tony Awards Excellence in Theatre Education Award. He will officially step into the role beginning January 1, 2020, as Artistic Director Betsy Kruse Craig steps down.

Pear Theatre kicks off the New Year with Alan Ayckbourn's hilarious farce, Taking Steps (directed by Troy Johnson). Taking Steps previews on Thursday, January 16, with press and Opening Night on Friday, January 17, followed by a champagne gala. The show runs Thursdays through Sundays through February 9. '19: The Musical' is the brainchild of Through the 4th Wall co-founders, Jennifer Schwed and Doug Bradshaw. Both DC natives, Schwed and Bradshaw conceived the idea of a musical about the passage of the 19th Amendment in 2016, and, along with Composer Charlie Barnett, have been overseeing workshops and concert performances for the last two years. Now, the team is preparing for the premiere of the full production, to be staged at the National Museum of Women in the Arts November 25-27.

The de Blasio Administration today announced the launch of the IDNYC renewal campaign, new and returning benefit partners, and the IDNYC Middle School Card. With the fifth anniversary of the IDNYC program approaching and the first set of cards set to expire beginning in January 2020, the program has also introduced a new card design and a comprehensive, citywide advertising and targeted outreach campaign to promote renewals. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, New York City Center's Principal Dance Company, returns to the theater's stage from December 4, 2019 a?' January 5, 2020. Everybody's Talking About Jamie, the smash-hit, critically acclaimed West End musical is to embark on its first UK tour in 2020. Initial casting includes West End star Layton Williams as Jamie New and EastEnders' much-loved Shane Richie as Hugo / Loco Chanelle. Both Layton and Shane will be reprising their roles from the West End production. The tour commences in February 2020 in Sheffield, where the show is set and first opened four years ago.

Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with Patrick Barlow's witty mystery play The 39 Steps from July 5 through July 28 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. For Hudson Warehouse's 16th Season, they are excited to announce The World Premiere of their original adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's The Man in the Iron Mask. Hudson Warehouse has taken on a four-year long series they've called "The Dumas Adventures." Over four years, they will present Alexandre Dumas's most celebrated works: The Three Musketeers in 2017, The Three Musketeers: 20 Years Later in 2018, The Man in the Iron Mask in 2019 and in 2020, what can be considered Dumas's masterpiece: The Count of Monte Cristo.

The first and longest running Asian interest film festival in the country, AAIFF42 will be presenting 12 narrative features, 9 documentary features, and 67 short films, from 19 countries.

The Canadian Opera Company is proud to partner with the National Arts Centre in co-commissioning new work to replace the music from the Kuyas aria that opens the third act of Louis Riel by composer Harry Somers and librettist Mavor Moore. Composer Ian Cusson, of M tis and French-Canadian descent, has been commissioned to create this new work for the opera, last performed at both the COC and NAC in 2017.

Hailing from the leafy borough of Greenwich, Luca Silvestrini's Protein will for the first time bring their community-invigorating show to London as they take over the streets of Woolwich with (In)visible Dancing. Surprising and seemingly impromptu bursts of dance will pop-up on the high streets, corners and commons over two weeks, culminating in a flash-mob style finale of over 200 dancers, six live musicians and any passers-by who have learned the steps. The two-week immersive event has been seen by over 122,000 people across the UK and Dublin and is unique to every area it visits. For the event's first performance on London streets, Protein will be taking over their home borough, joining Woolwich in its journey towards becoming a creative landmark with the opening the new Woolwich Creative District in 2020.
