Many performers find themselves drawn to the art after seeing a performance of a specific piece. And the influence of that piece forever changes their direction of life. Kirstin Tucker is no exception. After seeing a production of Swan Lake on television, she told her parents that she knew what she wanted to do- and now she's the dance captain of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway! This is Tucker's Broadway debut, and she was kind enough to talk to me about how it all began.

The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) selected 62 finalists from tens of thousands of students to compete for the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress, last night at the Minskoff Theatre. Hosted by the Tony Award-nominated stars of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana, the fifth annual performance showcase featured dynamic ensemble and solo performances exclusively from the musical theater cannon. Sarah Lynn Marion, from Fullerton, CA and Taylor Varga, from Norwich, CT took home the big awards for the evening. CINDERELLA -- the Rodgers + Hammerstein musical now at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) -- played its 100th performance on Wednesday evening, May 29. The cast celebrated with a cake from Carlo's Bakery, home of TV's 'Cake Boss.' The musical began previews on January 25 and had its official opening night on March 3. Written for CBS-TV in 1957, this production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA marks the musical's first-eve Broadway production, now in its 5th month of performances.
