You've seen the League's announcement that alll of tomorrow (Tuesday) night's Broadway performances are cancelled. It's important to note that, for Mary Poppins, Newsies and The Lion King at least, the normal performance week is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.

Since bursting onto Broadway in March, Newsies set and then broke five Nederlander Theatre house records on its way to becoming the best selling new musical of the spring. The show received 23 major theatrical nominations -- including eight Tony Award nods -- and won Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Score and Choreography. In response to the announced closing of the New York City mass transit system, and in the interest of guest, cast and company safety, the following performances have been cancelled: Mary Poppins Sunday, October 28th 6:30 New Amsterdam Theatre, The Lion King Sunday, October 28th 6:30 Minskoff Theatre, Newsies Monday, October 29th 7:30 Nederlander Theatre.

Newsies, the Tony® Award winning new American musical, has just announced that 2012 Tony Award nominee Ron Raines will temporarily join the cast in the role of Joseph Pulitzer on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 and will play the role through Sunday, December 16, 2012. He steps in for John Dossett, who will be starring in Giant at the Public Theater.

Multi-talented actress, singer, television host, playwright, songwriter and author Kathie Lee Gifford hosted this year's Broadway on Broadway on Sunday, September 9th, presented by United Airlines and The New York Times. The event kicked off the 2012-2013 Broadway season with star performances from new shows and long-running favorites, accompanied by a live 30-piece live orchestra directed by Alex Lacamoire. Corey Cott will become NEWSIES' new leading man, Jack Kelly, beginning tonight, Wednesday, September 5th. Cott became the Jack Kelly alternate earlier this summer and has continued as alternate until he assumes the role tonight.
