A young woman, Marjorie, is attacked in her home by a would-be rapist, Raul, and manages to turn the tables on him, tying him up in her fireplace. Her roommates come home to discover the attacker bound with cords, belts and other household items.

Terry and Patricia, the roommates, express different points of view about rape in society. Terry, a rape victim herself as a teenager, believes that Raul will not be convicted since a rape did not actually occur and there is no proof. Patricia believes in the judicial system and insists on calling the police.

The three friends are also turned on each other at various points in the play, due to Raul’s knowledge of each of them through stalking them. For instance, close to the play’s opening, Raul reveals to Terry that Marjorie had been dating Terry’s boyfriend.

Spotlight On ANONYMOUS: Shakespeare's Top 5 DeceptionsSpotlight On ANONYMOUS: Shakespeare's Top 5 Deceptions
by Pat Cerasaro - Nov 1, 2011

Today we continue our special series consisting of five entries total, each of which highlight a different facet of the rich and wonderful world of William Shakespeare and all with a particular emphasis on the controversial new feature film that explores the time, place, politics and goings-on of the Elizabethan era and focuses on the possibility that the true author of the esteemed plays we now know may very well have been someone else entirely - Edward de Vere - and how the question of the canon's true creation then comes into play - ANONYMOUS. "All the world's a stage," after all, so it should come as no surprise that acts of lust, bloodshed and betrayal would exist in the actual life - or even the supposed one - of the man who created the most bloody and thought-provoking tragedies in the history of literature - whoever he may have actually been. Perhaps some brief analysis of the finest leading players, most memorable lines and moments, as well as an exploration of other notable acts of grand betrayal in Shakespeare's plays will aid us on the journey to understanding the thesis of ANONYMOUS and bring us into a closer relationship with the individual who penned the greatest plays in the English language. Now that we have already analyzed the top ten male and female Shakespearean performers of the last few decades, as well as the most memorable lines and moments, today, in our final installment of the 5 Top 5 countdown, we are focusing on the most surprising and dramatic moments of deception in Shakespeare - including moments from HAMLET, JULIUS CAESER, THE WINTER'S TALE, AS YOU LIKE IT and more! Will Butler is pretty jazzed up about playing Eugene Morris Jerome in Circle Players' upcoming production of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs which might be due, in part, to the fact that he's pretty certain he's got all the lines down pat. But the real reason he's excited is that Brighton Beach marks his return-it's kind of a comeback for the young actor-to the Nashville stage since his "senior capstone project" at Belmont University in 2010. The episode took place at the funeral service for a beloved clown mentor which reunited Cameron with his estranged ex-clown partner, Lewis (Bobby Cannavale). BWW Reviews: Stages St. Louis's Sizzling Production of AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'BWW Reviews: Stages St. Louis's Sizzling Production of AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'
by Chris Gibson - Jun 7, 2012

One of the first shows I remember reviewing when I became a theatre critic was AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', and it's become a favorite of mine ever since. Although, I've had to wait quite a few years for a group to do a revival of this fascinating revue based on the songs and recordings of the fabulous Fats Waller. To kick off their season, Stages St. Louis is presenting a very fine production of this show, and it features, not only five terrifically talented singers, but also a live band to accompany them. This is the first time I've seen Stages actually utilize a live band, and I must say it works out wonderfully well. There's a palpable intensity in the performers as they feed off the positive energy of these exceptional musicians that makes this a must-see event. (more...)
