Film at Lincoln Center announced today that the 58th New York Film Festival (NYFF), taking place from September 25th through October 11th, will feature changes to the festival's programming structure and new selection committee and advisory roles. In 2008, I was one of the few who was privileged enough to see a?oeGlory Daysa?? open (and close) on Broadway. So, when I saw that the show was in our area I made it a priority to attend. My anticipation for what I had hoped to witness did not go unfilled as Rise Above Performing Arts delivered a passionate rendition of this much maligned musical.

For its seventh year of offering plays by contemporary Irish playwrights to Portland audiences, Corrib Theatre announces a three-show season: Eclipsed by Patricia Burke Brogan, James X by Gerard Mannix Flynn, and Kissing the Witch by Emma Donoghue. The global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! celebrated its 20th anniversary in London's West End at the Novello Theatre on Saturday 6 April. Now, in the musical's 21st year, the producers are delighted to announce some major cast changes in the London production from Monday 10 June 2019. Mazz Murray, who has previously played Tanya in the London production, will be returning to the musical, but this time as Donna, and Kirsty Hoiles will join her as Tanya. Also new to the musical will be Cameron Burt as Sky, Melissa Nettleford as Ali, Sophie Matthew as Lisa, Taylor Bradshaw as Eddie and Danny Nattrass as Pepper. They will be joining Ricky Butt as Rosie, Richard Trinder as Sam, Neil Moors as Harry, Stephen Beckett as Bill and Lucy May Barker as Sophie. Caroline Deverill continues to play the role of Donna at certain performances.

Like a sad, lonely island, depleted of its bounty, a single floor of the offices of Lehman Brothers is revealed, isolated, lofted above the endless business of a bustling Manhattan. It is empty, save for the boxes of files stacked on top of each other after declaring bankruptcy in 2008 and the memory of three brothers who founded the company 158 years earlier and their descendants who kept it thriving as a global investment bank.

DCINY (Distinguished Concerts International New York) presents an evening of music by English composer Will Todd led by Maestros James Meaders (DCINY Conductor) and Alicia Walker (DCINY Guest Conductor). Proving the enduring vibrancy and relevancy of the art form (while celebrating a milestone for its leader), Boston Lyric Opera's 2019/20 Season of new productions spans three centuries of composers -- focusing on works that reflect the highs and lows of power and politics, bringing passionate opera installations to new neighborhoods, and introducing audiences to rising stars from diverse backgrounds. Among the season highlights, Russian-born soprano Elena Stikhina returns to BLO, where she made her 2017 American debut, to sing the lead role in NORMA. Stanford Calderwood General & Artistic Director Esther Nelson marks her 10th programming season, which the company will commemorate throughout the year.

San Francisco Opera presents the West Coast premiere of It's a Wonderful Life by composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer in nine holiday-season performances from November 17 through December 9. The two-act work, a co-commission and co-production between San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, is based in part on Frank Capra's 1946 film It's a Wonderful Life and The Greatest Gift, a story by Philip Van Doren Stern.

Disney's enduring classic The Little Mermaid is heading to the stage in Charleston, WV! The Charleston Light Opera Guild is excited to bring this fairy tale masterpiece to life at the Clay Center Theater. The hit musical, which debuted on Broadway in 2007, is based on the 1989 animated classic film and features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a book by Doug Wright. Irondale is proud to present the New York premiere of Sea of Common Catastrophe, a surreal multimedia theater work that grapples with complicity in the face of rapid urban change. Designed and directed by Jeff Becker, who leads a team of fellow New Orleans-based artists, Sea of Common Catastrophe follows three long-time residents of a tiny seaside town whose lives are uprooted when a compelling stranger arrives. Inspired by a passage from Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novella Sea of Lost Time-where a town drowns on a Sunday afternoon but persists, submerged, in its daily life, as if the deluge had never occurred-Sea of Common Catastrophe uses spectacular lighting and video, live music, and an innovative two-story set to evoke a changing landscape of upscale living and chic restaurants that suddenly transforms into a magical sunken world.

As a new economic era arrives, traditional corporations go through drastic transformations to reinvent themselves. Do those who have been with the company for a long time stand firm to defend the old existing system, or do they accept the new changes? Exploring the subject of office politics, particularly the ideological clash between the new and old generations within companies, Die Firma dankt is written by German playwright Lutz Hubner together with Sarah Nemitz. This satirical work is filled with brilliantly dark humour, and it has garnered enthusiastic acclaims when performed in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan. The current version is translated by Tang Wei, with Cantonese adaption by Weigo Lee who also directs this production. The main cast includes Chris Sun, Wang Wei, Karrie Tan, Lo Ka Nang and Fanny Shum, and the performances will be staged at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre from 6 to 22 July. Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage continues to dazzle with a new production and North American tour. After three successful years on tour boasting numerous sold out engagements, this new adaptation of the worldwide smash-hit film, currently celebrating its 30th Anniversary, will make a stop in the Lehigh Valley at The State Theatre on June 21 and June 22, 2018.

Presented by State Auto Insurance Companies, a Lincoln Theatre Walk of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 7pm, to memorialize the three visionaries responsible for the historic Lincoln Theatre's rescue, renovation, and 2009 reopening-Michael B. Coleman, Bill Conner, and Larry James.

Prolific playwright Dominique Morisseau's SKELETON CREW begins June 5, 2018 as the next Geffen Playhouse production. SKELETON CREW, the final play in Dominique's three-play cycle THE DETROIT PROJECT, focuses on four co-workers of an auto factory about to go under, circa 2008.  We had the chance to catch Dominique in between her multi-tasking of writing on her multitude of projects, including Showtime's Shameless and the upcoming AIN'T TOO PROUD scheduled for a Broadway run.
