Rose Theatre Kingston today announces its most ambitious project to date - this autumn the Rose stage will be transformed into a battlefield for The Wars of the Roses, a gripping adaptation of four of Shakespeare's history plays, directed by Trevor Nunn. There is a lot wrong with the central conceit of Marc Camoletti's farce BOEING BOEING, playing at the Garden Theatre through April 4th. Set in Paris in 1963, Bernard, an insatiable womanizer (likely with undiagnosed obsessive compulsive disorder) has figured out that the best way to reap the benefits of having three live-in fiancees without any of them knowing about each other is to only propose to flight attendants on conflicting schedules. From there, the jokes nearly write themselves as schedules change and weather delays departures. Directed by Keith Smith, the Garden Theatre's six-person cast bounces through the madcap comedy with an abundant joy, despite all of the outdated gender politics. BOEING BOEING, translated from the original French by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans, stands up well as a time-capsule from a different time with a different perspective, and if you can get past the show's uncomfortable premise, you are sure to enjoy its charming cast and taut direction.

Complemented by the innovative all-female vocal group Lorelei Ensemble, BMOP performs the world premieres of Karosi's Existentia—in memory of Sándor Weöres (commissioned by BMOP) and Agócs's The Debrecen Passion, as well as Ligeti's Violin Concerto (1990) featuring violinist Gabriela Diaz, and Bartók's Three Village Scenes (1926).

Mexican tenor Rodrigo Garciarroyo will perform the leading role of Giuseppe Hagenbach on January 30 (opening night), February 1 and 4, 2015. Tenor Arnold Rawls will sing the role for the final performance scheduled on February 7, 2015. The singers are assuming the role after Carl Tanner recently withdrew, due to illness.

Today in 2008, The 39 Steps opend at the American Airlines Theatre, where it ran for 771 performances. The play is a farce adapted from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock. Patrick Barlow wrote the adaptation, based on the original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon of a two-actor version of the play. The play's concept calls for the entirety of the 1935 adventure film The 39 Steps to be performed with a cast of only four. One actor plays the hero, Richard Hannay, an actress plays the three women with whom he has romantic entanglements, and two other actors play every other character in the show: heroes, villains, men, women, children and even the occasional inanimate object. This often requires lightning fast quick-changes and occasionally for them to play multiple characters at once. Thus the film's serious spy story is played mainly for laughs, and the script is full of allusions to (and puns on the titles of) other Alfred Hitchcock films, including Rear Window, Psycho, Vertigo and North by Northwest.

According to the show's official website, The 39 Steps, which ran on Broadway in 2008-10, will reopen in New York City this spring. The play resume performances off Broadway at the Union Square Theatre in April 2015, and will run indefinitely.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre will open its 50th anniversary celebration with the Kansas City premiere of David Cromer's Our Town, an enduring American story which examines the everyday lives of an average town's citizens in the early twentieth century. Our Town, one of the greatest American plays written by Thornton Wilder, the three-time Pulitzer prize-winning playwright and novelist will be directed by David Cromer, MacArthur Foundation 'genius' grant recipient and director of KC Rep's 2009 production of The Glass Menagerie which received national and local critical acclaim. This co-production with UMKC Theatre will feature redesigned seating at Spencer Theatre in the James C. Olson performing Arts Center on the UMKC campus. The show will run tnight, September 5 through 28th.
