New York Live Arts (Live Arts) to present the world premiere of Kota Yamazaki/Fluid Hug-Hug's Darkness Odyssey Part 3: Non-Opera, Becoming, April 3-6, 2019, having commissioned the work as part of the Live Feed Residency Program. A co-presentation with Mount Tremper Arts, the final installment of Yamazaki's Darkness Odyssey series, is a non-operatic dance celebrating the bridge between 'this self' and 'the other self.' Bessie Award winning Yamazaki magnifies the ever-changing state and process of 'becoming' while encouraging exchange between performers from different dance practices, and cultural backgrounds.

Dawn Derow, the 2018 MAC Award-Winner for 'Best Female Vocalist,' will display her great vocal range and outgoing performing personality at New York's Beach Cafe (1326 2nd Avenue, corner of 70th Street) with THE DAWN DEROW BIRTHDAY PARTY SHOW today, November 24 at 9:30 pm (Dinner seating at 8:00 pm). Directed by Lina Koutrakos and featuring Music Director Mark Janas on piano and Sean Harkness on guitar, Derow's Birthday Party Show will offer an eclectic mix of songs, including favorites from Legit and her 2011-2014 show with Harkness, Music 4 Two. Helping Dawn celebrate her birthday will be special guest vocalists, including multiple award-winning cabaret performer Celia Berk (who was a guest singer in Legit), MAC Award-nominee and concert performer Suzanne Fiore (also a Boston Conservatory graduate), and Jason Reiff, who has starred as 'Marius' in the national tour of Les Miserables. Fiore and Reiff will join Derow on songs by Heart, Brandi Carlyle, The Indigo Girls, and Sara Bareilles.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

Ensemble Connect Embarks On 12th Season With Eighteen New Musicians

Ensemble Connect embarks on its 12th season with a new group of young professional classical musicians joining the fellowship program from around the world. Following a rigorous audition process, 18 fellows were selected from across the United States and also from Israel, Japan, Canada, Taiwan, Hungary, and Korea. The fellows will perform 12 concerts in the New York City area this season at venues including Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, Paul Hall at The Juilliard School, Our Saviour's Atonement Lutheran Church and the Jackson Heights Branch Library as part of Carnegie Hall Citywide, and in Saratoga Springs, NY as part of Ensemble Connect's continuing biannual residency at Skidmore College.

Ensemble Connect, comprised of some of the finest young professional classical musicians in the United States, continues its two-year fellowship program this season with concerts at Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School, as well as residencies and performances at The Pocantico Center of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Skidmore College; and in schools and community venues throughout New York City. Highlights of the Ensemble's 2017-2018 season include the premiere performances of bright and fair, a new work by Gabriel Kahane, commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project, featuring Mr. Kahane as guest vocalist in Weill Recital Hall on February 19. This fall, Ensemble Connect travels to The Pocantico Center in Tarrytown, New York to collaborate with composer Andy Akiho on a new work, also commissioned by Carnegie Hall, to premiere in 2018.
