This season, along with Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story of Christmas, which runs on the Hubbard Stage, the Alley Theatre will once again present a second holiday production, David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries on the Neuhaus Stage. Alley Artist Todd Waite will reprise his role as 'Crumpet the Elf' in the outlandish, and true, chronicles of David Sedaris' experience as a worker in Macy's SantaLand display. Also this season, for select performances Alley Artist Paul Hope will appear as 'Crumpet the Elf': December 8 at 7:30 PM, December 9 at 7:30 PM, December 10 at 6:00 PM and Saturday, December 11 at 2:30 PM. James added a new spin to the traditional ghost story by writing it entirely from the governess' perspective, leaving the reader to interpret her account's accuracy and truthfulness. Lantern Theater Company opens its 2010/11 season with a celebration of the influential work of Russian playwright, short-story writer, and physician Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) during the 150th anniversary year of his birth. The Lantern will present its first-ever production of a full-length Chekhov work with Uncle Vanya (Oct. 21 - Nov. 21), directed by the Lantern's Associate Artistic Director Kathryn MacMillan. The Guthrie Theater today announced that Artistic Director Joe Dowling will direct legendary stage actor Brian Dennehy in John B. Keane's The Field in a limited run at Dublin's Olympia Theatre beginning January 13. Dennehy plays the iconic role of ‘The Bull' McCabe in Keane's award-winning play. The Field returns to the Olympia Theatre where it premiered more than 45 years ago and will run from January 13 through to February 12, then transfer to the INEC, Killarney, from February 15 through 17, followed by a transfer to the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, from February 24 through 26. Following the sold out performances and overflow crowds at its first two Cino Nights presentations (of Gary Sunshine's BEST SEX EVER and Mando Alvarado's (O)N THE 5:31), Rising Phoenix Rep continued the series November 7th with Courtney Baron's HERE I LIE which was performed by Denis Butkus and Samantha Soule to a sold out house. In this two-character play, 'Maris and Joseph have made their beds and now have to lie in them. Two people connected by illness, loneliness, and the need to be understood, they navigate the murky waters of subjective truth. If you believe it, can you make it true?'
