The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, presents its Annual Dinner and Mock Trial at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) on Monday, May 13, 2013. The Mock Trial begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by the trial, The Pen vs. The Sword, at 7:30 p.m. A special session of the Supreme Court of Rome will convene at Sidney Harman Hall to hear the case of the estate of Coriolanus (Appellant) vs. The Latin Herald (Appellee), based on characters in the play Coriolanus by William Shakespeare. The Shakespeare Theatre Company, recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award, is pleased to exhibit a selection of images taken by award-winning photographer Nina Dunn. The exhibition brings together 24 key photographs from the artist's Europe series. Dunn's photos will be displayed and offered for sale throughout Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) during the run of the Company's Hero/Traitor Repertory (March 28 - June 2, 2012), featuring the productions Coriolanus and Wallenstein. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that Jesse Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave will star in the world premiere of Eisenberg's The Revisionist, directed by Kip Fagan, which begins its limited run on Wednesday, February 6 and opens Thursday, February 21 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. In the hands of The Studio Theatre's Artistic Director David Muse and STC's Artistic Director Michael Kahn, this pairing of Shakespearean and German epics challenges the concept of control among military and government institutions. Kyle Donnelly Will Direct Arena Stages' OTHER DESERT CITIES

Hidden secrets are unearthed and family tensions fly high in Pulitzer Prize nominee Jon Robin Baitz's contemporary family drama Other Desert Cities. Helen Hayes Award winner and former Arena Stage Associate Artistic Director Kyle Donnelly returns to direct the D.C.-area premiere of the show with a cast that features Tony Award nominee and two-time Helen Hayes Award winner Helen Carey (Mary Tyrone in Arena Stage's Long Day's Journey into Night, Broadway's Hedda Gabler) as matriarch Polly Wyeth and two-time Tony Award nominee Larry Bryggman (Broadway's Harvey, CBS's As the World Turns) as patriarch Lyman Wyeth. Rounding out the cast are Emily Donahoe (Broadway's 33 Variations) as daughter Brooke Wyeth, Scott Drummond (Cherry Lane Theatre's A Perfect Future) as son Trip Wyeth and Martha Hackett (Pacific Resident Theatre's Nora) as their aunt Silda Grauman. Bohemian Theatre Ensemble and The Hypocrites Top List of Jeff Nominations

The Jeff Awards Committee today announced 120 nominations in 25 categories of Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2012, and March 31, 2013. The Non-Equity Awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract. Jeff judges attended opening nights of 146 productions offered by 65 Non-Equity producing organizations. The judges recommended 54 of those shows, making them eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations. Thirty-three theatre companies received nominations. (more...)

From 13 May 2013 Anna-Jane Casey will join the West End cast of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre to play Billy's dance teacher Mrs Wilkinson. From 13 May 2013 Anna-Jane Casey will join the West End cast of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre to play Billy's dance teacher Mrs Wilkinson. Also joining the cast are Kevin Wathen as Billy's brother, Tony, Howard Crossley as George and Alexander Loxton as Older Billy. They join current cast members Deka Walmsley who plays Billy's Dad, Kay Milbourne as Dead Mum. Simon Ray Harvey as Mr. Braithwaite and Ann Emery who created the role of Grandma on stage when the show premiered in 2005. Now in its eighth year the internationally award-winning Billy Elliot the Musical is currently booking at the Victoria Palace Theatre to 21 December 2013 and last night welcomed its 4 millionth patron at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
