Nathan Ritzo Pens TOWER 13
by Christina Mancuso - Jun 21, 2016

Was the decision to invade Iraq a good one or a one of the worst political blunders of the 21st Century? A debate still in the news today, more than a decade after the fact. But for Sergeant Mathew Duffy, a young American soldier stationed at Camp Victory, Baghdad, during Operation Iraqi Freedom II, the question never came up. He was there, like it or not, stuck in a hot, hostile environment. His job: to take to the guard tower with two other soldiers on the night of Saddam Hussein's arraignment - July 1, 2004. Thanks to the media's careless broadcasting of Saddam Hussein's location, Sgt. Duffy and his team would face numerous dangers from within as well as without. Based on the actual experiences of soldiers who were there, 'Tower 13' ($15.95, paperback, 266 pps, Hellgate Press) affords the reader an intimate, realistic account of a soldier's day-to-day life at war. Author Nathan Ritzo is a U.S. Army veteran from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, who served two tours in Iraq. One was at Camp Victory, Baghdad, in 2004, and the other in the International Zone, Baghdad, 2007. He currently resides in Portsmouth with his two daughters. This is his first novel. 'Tower 13' is published by Hellgate Press (www.hellgatepress.com), a leading publisher of military history, veteran memoirs, historical fiction and adventure travel books, and is available in paperback and ebook on Amazon.com and wherever fine books are sold.

Alexander Lawrence Pens LEVIATHAN'S RUSE, VOL. 1
by Christina Mancuso - May 4, 2016

Leviathan's Ruse, Vol. 1: The Comprehensive Guide to the Battle Between Good and Evil Christian non-fiction / 6' x 9' paperback / perfect bound ISBN: 978-0-9972578-0-9 Ebook ISBN: 978-0-9972578-1-6 404 pp. with 51 illustrations / $16.99 USD Watchman Alexander Publications is pleased to announce the release of 'Leviathan's Ruse, Vol. 1: The Comprehensive Guide to the Battle Between Good and Evil,' a groundbreaking exposé of the Dragon and his kingdom. 'My goal is to inoculate the people of God against the powerful deception of the last days,' stated the author. Today, there is a grand push towards transhumanism, pluralism, and a one-world government. Alexander Lawrence believes that fallen angelic forces are responsible, and he won't let them go unchallenged. Leviathan's Ruse reveals the ways in which fallen angels have misled human beings throughout history, and how events initiated in the distant past are feeding into Satan's end-game. The book helps readers to connect the dots between ancient mythologies, paranormal activities, mystery religions, occult societies, and more. Along the way, Mr. Lawrence offers rebuttals to commonly-held ideas about biblical end-time prophecies and characters (e.g., the meaning of the beasts seen by the prophet Daniel, and the identity of Lucifer). Available at major online book retailers and at LeviathansRuse.com. About The Author Alexander Lawrence is a husband, father, and Messianic who makes computer graphics for a living. He graduated with a B.A. from Texas A&M University in 2004. He teaches and leads worship at Messiah Echad congregation in Georgetown, Texas. Rabbi Jonathan Dade says of Alexander, 'He truly is a genuine, practical, scripturally-minded guy with a lot of wisdom.' For more about the author, see WatchmanAlexander.com. by Christina Mancuso - Apr 18, 2016

The Friends of the Mansfield Public Library are bringing critically acclaimed author and novelist Amanda Eyre Ward to the Mansfield Public Library as part of the group's Mansfield Reads! program on April 29, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event, known as Evening With The Author, marks the culmination of Reads!, which encourages everyone in the Mansfield community to read the same book at the same time. This year's Reads! selection was Ward's novel, The Same Sky, a beautiful and heart-wrenching piece of fiction about motherhood, resilience and faith. Ward, a former librarian and current Austin resident, is a critically acclaimed author of five novels, including the bestseller How to Be Lost. She spent 2014 visiting shelters in Texas and California, meeting immigrant children and hearing their stories, which inspired The Same Sky. The Evening With The Author, a free event, will follow this schedule: •6 p.m. - Hors d'oeuvres catered by Ben Barber High School's Savvy's Bistro. •7 p.m. - The Friends welcome Ward for an interview-style discussion about her novel followed by time for the audience to ask questions •8 p.m. - Book signing and coffee & desserts Barnes & Noble will offer all of Ward's books for sale at the event. Through the retailer's Book Fair program, a percentage of the sales proceeds will go the Friends. If readers can't attend, they can also use book fair code 11831484 at bn.com April 29 through May 8 to support the group. The event is free to all, even those not in the Mansfield community; however the Friends are requesting people RSVP at mansfieldlibraryfriends.org by April 22 in order to have the appropriate amount of food on hand. The Friends are also asking those attending to bring used books to donate to their bookstore, which is one of their key fundraising sources. The Same Sky highlights a ripped-from-the-headlines story of two families on each side of the U.S.-Mexico border. The book alternates between the journeys of Carla, an eleven-year-old girl from Honduras who decides to make the dangerous trip north to find her mother in Texas, and Alice, a wife in Austin with a thriving business and loving marriage who feels something is missing, lying just beyond reach. Those with questions should contact the Friends at mansfieldlibraryfriends@gmail.com. About Friends of the Mansfield Public Library: Founded in 1965, the Friends group is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the library through fundraising, promotion and advocacy. Friends use the money they raise to purchase things for the library that otherwise wouldn't be possible, as well as fund the annual, citywide Mansfield Reads! program. To contribute a tax-deductible donation or learn more, visit mansfieldlibraryfriends.org. About Mansfield Reads!: Since 2004 the Friends of the Mansfield Public Library host this annual program throughout the month of April.
