Ina Garten, the American culinary icon, author of 10 New York Times bestselling cookbooks and host of the popular Emmy and James Beard Award - winning Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics show o n Food Network, returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts today, December 5. Garten is celebrating her newest cookbook, Cook Like A Pro.

Cute costumed kids filed into The Duke Energy Center Thursday night to see Lythgoe Family Panto production of ALADDIN AND HIS WINTER WISH. The show marks the first of a three-year partnership between the Lythgoe family and North Carolina Theatre and the first foray into the Christmas show market for North Carolina Theatre. While this isn't the Disney version of ALADDIN, the story is essentially the same. A street rat with a dream meets a princess, gets trapped in a cave, finds a lamp, meets a Genie, makes a wish, buys a laundromat, makes it snow, and lives happily ever after. And by all accounts, the kids in the audience loved every minute of it.

Irish Arts Center (IAC), the multidisciplinary center dedicated to bringing people of all backgrounds together through the excellence and dynamism of Irish arts and culture, this year creates a thrilling intersection of musical traditions from Ireland and the Gulf of Mexico for its annual Winter Solstice Celebration (December 14 at Symphony Space). The beloved holiday gathering is hosted by NEA award winner and "one of the most important Irish musicians to emerge from the folk revival of the 1970s" (Time Out) Mick Moloney (banjo, mandolin, vocals) and acclaimed fiddler Athena Tergis.

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," announces its 28th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the world premiere of THE ZOMBIES OF PENZANCE, Gilbert & Sullivan's newly discovered, original 'operatic abomination,' in its first ever production, running Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2018; followed by the 'family values' classic musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, running Feb. 28-March 23, 2019; and to close the season, the St. Louis premiere of the new sci-fi rock musical BE MORE CHILL, based on the bestselling novel, running May 30-June 22, 2019. All New Line's mainstage shows will be in the company's home, the Marcelle Theater, in the Grand Center Arts District.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced that they will present the 2018 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre to three outstanding contributors to the Broadway industry - New York Times' culture photographer Sara Krulwich, costume beader, Bessie Nelson, and the Ernest Winzer Cleaners.

Rob Houchen is one of the three directors of the new event company called West End Does which has its first concert, The Magic of Animation, on 6 May. The Guildford School of Acting graduate is best known for playing Marius in Les Miserables, Fleet in Titanic, and his many concert performances. Growing up in Southern California, George Christie was drawn to the rebellious lifestyle of notorious biker clubs at a young age, hanging out with the likes of The Question Marks and Satan Slaves, eventually joining the Los Angeles chapter of the Hells Angels. In 1978, he founded the club's Ventura chapter and quickly rose to fame battling police, prosecutors, rival gangs and members of his own organization for more than three decades.
