La MaMa Presents OYSTERS ORGASMS OBITUARIES, Begins 12/1

La MaMa has announced that the world premiere of Oysters Orgasms Obituaries, written and performed by Raïna von Waldenburg, and designed and directed by Zishan Ugurlu, will begin performances Thursday, December 1 at 7:30pm, with a press opening set for Sunday, December 4, at 3pm, in La MaMa's First Floor Theatre, 74A East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Oysters Orgasms Obituaries is part of La MaMa's 50th anniversary season. (more...)

Four Things Productions announced today a special one-night-only staged reading of Matthew Lombardo's (High, Looped) one-woman show, Tea at Five, starring the one and only Charles Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife) as Katharine Hepburn. The evening, directed by Rob Ruggiero (High, Looped) is set for Monday, November 28th, 2011 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street), and will benefit The Ali Forney Center. Bramwell Tovey will lead the New York Philharmonic at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in a program of works by Bernstein, Gershwin, and Tchaikovsky, Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. Canadian soprano Tracy Dahl will be the soloist in the coloratura aria, "Glitter and Be Gay" from Bernstein's Candide, along with songs by Gershwin, including "The Man I Love" and "Fascinatin' Rhythm," arranged by Mr. Tovey. Also on the program are Three Dance Episodes from Bernstein's On the Town, and two works by Tchaikovsky: music from Act IV of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, and the 1812 Overture. (more...)
