Producers Darren Bagert, Dan Shaheen, and Ted Snowdon have announced that the hit comedy Buyer & Cellar, starring Michael Urie ('Ugly Betty'), written by Jonathan Tolins, and directed by Stephen Brackett, will transfer to the Barrow Street Theatre for a ten-week engagement beginning Tuesday, June 18, at 7:30pm and opening Monday, June 24. The owner of a failing jazz club seeks to save what her grandfather built, inspiring those around her to chase their dreams. Twelve visually impaired actors and musicians take the stage in Yesterday's, an original comedy created and performed by Theatre by the Blind, the country's only theater troupe composed entirely of blind actors. Created by the ensemble, co-written by Colin Simson and Lindsay Nyman, co-directed by Greg Shane and Lindsay Nyman, and presented by CRE Outreach, Yesterday's will run April 18 through May 5 at the Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica. 8,000 Runners Unleashed at Nike She Runs 5K

On Saturday, May 11, 8,000 women unleashed their fiercely feminine side as they took part in Nike She Runs 5K at Gardens by the Bay East, connecting them to 85,000 other women across 11 cities through Nike's global She Runs series. The Flea has announced that Thirteen WNET will be filming the critically acclaimed production of THE VANDAL on March 29. A broadcast date has not been slated. Written by actor Hamish Linklater (School for Lies, Twelfth Night, Recent Tragic Events & The Busy World is Hushed, and TV's The New Adventures of Old Christine), The Vandal runs through March 31. The Little Orchestra Society announces its Spring Benefit, hosted by two-time Tony Award winning actress Donna Murphy, to follow the premiere of Disney Fantasia Live in Concert tonight, April 26 at Avery Fisher Hall. The Arts and Education Honoree of the evening is the Big Apple Circus and its co-founders Paul Binder and Michael Christensen. The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, in conjunction with Causey Contemporary, has announced Alan Binstock's public art exhibition in Ft. Tryon Park in northern Manhattan. The exhibition includes three sculptures-Wayfinder, located across from the New Leaf Cafe, and Third Portal and Trance Ender, found along the Stan Michels Promenade. Made of resin, shattered tempered glass and steel, all three pieces appear to be tools offering direction or pathways to discovery and (inner) navigation. (more...)
