Ken Ludwig is an internationally acclaimed playwright whose many hits on Broadway, in London's West End and throughout the world have made his name synonymous with modern comedy. He has had six shows on Broadway and six in the West End, and he has won the Laurence Olivier Award, England's highest theatre honor, as well as three Tony Award nominations and two Helen Hayes Awards. His work has been commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and has been performed in thirty countries in over twenty languages. Loyola's Montage Series Offers Two Free Music Festivals, 3/16-17 & 24

The Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series at Loyola University New Orleans will host two free music festivals this month. On March 16 and 17, trumpeter Ben Albright and percussionist Nobue Matsuoka ┬Ĺ94 will be featured guests at the annual Trumpet and Percussion Festival. On March 24, high school bands from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama will travel to Loyola University to participate in ensemble performances and workshops as part of the Invitational Bands Festival, featuring guest clinician and conductor, David Holsinger. The Columbus Symphony and conductor Michael Berkowitz will showcase a variety of percussion instruments in the Rhythm of the Americas program. This PNC Arts Alive Concert for Kids is a one-hour classical concert for young audiences at the Capitol Theatre on March 25, and will feature rhythmic music from all the Americas-North, South, and Central. The CSO's PNC Arts Alive Concerts for Kids are funded by a grant from PNC Arts Alive, a three-year, $1.5 million initiative of The PNC Foundation that supports visual and performing arts groups with the goal of increasing arts access and engagement in new and innovative ways. The 2012 Brochure for England's largest fringe festival was unveiled yesterday with a colourful launch party at Leicester Square Theatre. In the company of participants, supporters, partners and Friends of Brighton Fringe, incoming director Julian Caddy revealed a line-up encompassing over 681 events housed in 193 venues across the city, an array of site-specific work and one of the largest street festivals in the UK. In May, Britain's favourite seaside city will play host to panoply of cultural events from theatre to visual art, from dance to comedy, from music to film. With Citroen as the headline sponsors for the second consecutive year, Brighton Fringe 2012 promises to be the biggest and best yet. (more...)

Bramwell Tovey will lead the New York Philharmonic at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in a program of works by Bernstein, Gershwin, and Tchaikovsky, Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. Canadian soprano Tracy Dahl will be the soloist in the coloratura aria, "Glitter and Be Gay" from Bernstein's Candide, along with songs by Gershwin, including "The Man I Love" and "Fascinatin' Rhythm," arranged by Mr. Tovey. Also on the program are Three Dance Episodes from Bernstein's On the Town, and two works by Tchaikovsky: music from Act IV of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, and the 1812 Overture. (more...)
