CRE Outreach presents the world premiere of NOBODY TOLD ME, a heartfelt original play written by Marine Corps veteran Melvin Ishmael Johnson, performed by Full Scope Veterans and Theatre by the Blind. Writer/performer Melvin Ishmael Johnson drew from his own as well as other veterans' real-life stories and experiences to create the piece, then joined forces with Theatre by the Blind actors to hone Full Scope Veterans stage craft skills. Working together proved to be a transformative experience for every member of the production.

The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, in conjunction with Causey Contemporary, has announced Alan Binstock's public art exhibition in Ft. Tryon Park in northern Manhattan. The exhibition includes three sculptures-Wayfinder, located across from the New Leaf Cafe, and Third Portal and Trance Ender, found along the Stan Michels Promenade. Made of resin, shattered tempered glass and steel, all three pieces appear to be tools offering direction or pathways to discovery and (inner) navigation.

Producers Jed Bernstein and Adam Zotovich announced today that Tony Award-winners James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave will return to the New York stage this Fall to star opposite one another in the Broadway Premiere of Alfred Uhry‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Driving Miss Daisy. Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy will begin performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening on Monday, October 25, 2010.

New York Philharmonic Principal Clarinet Stanley Drucker, who will retire from the Orchestra at the end of the 2008?09 season concluding a 60-year tenure, will give his final concerto appearances in performances of Copland?s Clarinet Concerto, conducted by Lorin Maazel, Tuesday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 6, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Drucker, who joined the New York Philharmonic at age 19 in 1948, and whose tenure encompasses one-third of the history of the 167-year-old orchestra, will have performed as soloist with the Orchestra some 200 times (both at home and abroad), and will have played in more than 10,200 concerts under nine New York Philharmonic conductors at the conclusion of his tenure.
