Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 16th season with the regional premiere of Jenny Schwartz's 'God's Ear,' playing April 1 through April 26, 2009 in the Studio Theatre of HCC. 'God's Ear' focuses on a young couple, Ted and Mel, and how they cope with the loss of their son. Positioned firmly in the center of 'God's Ear' is the concept of language, and how language and expression are used to deal with tragedy and grief. Paul Morella (Ted), Julie-Ann Elliott (Mel) and Lauren Williams (Lanie) star; Helen Hayes Award-winning director Kasi Campbell directs. As of this morning, Wednesday, January 28, Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) is now accepting entries for its popular LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to its next production, the New York premiere of THE SAVANNAH DISPUTATION, a new play by Evan Smith (Psych and The Uneasy Chair at Playwrights Horizons, Servicemen at The New Group). At least 50 tickets will be available via the online lottery. A ticketing initiative created last season as part of the theater company's Arts Access program, LIVEforFIVE makes $5 tickets available for the first preview performance of each Playwrights Horizons production through a lottery via the company's website (www.playwrightshorizons.org). Hudson Stage announces its Spring Mainstage production- the New York premiere of Westchester resident Richard Dresser's quirky, laugh out loud comedy, The Pursuit of Happiness. The show runs April 17th- May 2nd, and asks the timely ethical question: How far would a parent go to get their child into the college of their choice?' This play is about the cost of winning', notes Dresser. Mr. Dresser is a noted playwright whose works have been widely produced in regional theatres, NYC, and Europe. He penned the Off-Broadway hit, Rounding Third and is perhaps best known for the long-running popular TV series, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd. The production will be directed by Sheryl Kaller, who recently helmed the Christopher Durang musical, Adrift in Macao at Primary Stages in NYC, and NY Stage and Film at Vassar. Included in the cast is Denise Bessette, Hudson Stage co-founder who last appeared with the company in Kimberly Akimbo. Dan Foster and Olivia Sklar are executive producers. (more...)

This will be Mr. Smith's fourth collaboration with the theater company.
