Acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Carrie Rodriguez will embark on an extensive U.S. tour in support of her fifth full-length solo album Give Me All You Got, set for release January 22 on Ninth Street Opus. The LP is the follow-up to 2010's Love and Circumstance, which No Depression hailed as "an album you do not want to miss." In anticipation Rodriguez recently stopped by West Virginia Public Broadcasting's "Mountain Stage" to record a set that is scheduled to begin airing nationwide March 15. Virginia Rep's Children's Theatre of Virginia kicks off 2013 with The Magic Flute on Friday, January 18 at Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive, Richmond, Virginia. The show is part of the Acts of Faith Theatre Festival and will run through February 10, 2013. Fairy tale magic hangs in the air when the mysterious Queen of the Night sends young Prince Tamino - armed only with a golden flute and a feathered friend - to rescue her lovely daughter. The Prince soon learns that nothing is as it seems and he must pass many tests before he and his beloved Princess can live happily ever after. Inspired by Mozart's masterpiece, the musical imparts a poignant message of tolerance as it weaves a web of make-believe and music. (more...)

Upright Citizen Brigade has announced January extension dates for The 2017 Tony Awardz, a musical parody by Stephanie Streisand and Rocco Privetera. Performances will be held Monday, January 2nd and 9th, 2013 at 8:00pm (with future dates to be announced). Evan Greenspoon (Jest) directs a cast of seven including Stephanie Streisand (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon), Michael Hartney(30 Rock, Small Time), Richard "Big Rich" Armstead, Adam Bozarth, Caroline Cotter, Matthew Frazier, and Douglas Widick.
