To close its 47th Season, Marin Theatre Company will produce the West Coast premiere of Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins. Directed by MTC's artistic director Jasson Minadakis, this play about love and loss will feature five actors playing multiple characters, using puppets and playing live music both original (by MTC's frequent collaborator Chris Houston, a Berkeley-based composer and musician) and from the era of the play - 1920s Chicago. Queens based Titan Theatre Company opened it's final production of it's Award Winning and Critically Acclaimed second season on Friday April 25th, 2014 with the opening of its highly anticipated adaptation of Shakespeare's Epic KING LEAR. The production, which stars Broadway vet Terry Layman in the title role and is made possible through a generous grant from the Queens Council for the Arts, will runs thru May 11, 2014 at the Queens Theatre, the borough's premiere performing arts venue, located in beautiful Flushing Meadows Park. Chicago audiences depart for the country's western edge to experience the reality of the modern-day American dream in the world premiere of Mona Mansour's funny and insightful new play, The Way West, at Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Ensemble member Amy Morton is at the helm following her Tony Award-nominated portrayal of Martha in Steppenwolf's production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? on Broadway. The cast of six features Ira Amyx, ensemble member Martha Lavey, Caroline Neff, Deirdre O'Connell, Zoe Perry and Gabriel Ruiz. The Way West opens April 13 and runs through June 8, 2014 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). (more...)

Red-Eye to Havre de Grace will begin performances Tuesday, April 22 at 7pm at New York Theatre Workshop, 79 East 4 Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Red-Eye to Havre de Grace is by Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental, created by Thaddeus Phillips, Jeremy Wilhelm, David Wilhelm, Geoff Sobelle, Sophie Bortolussi with Ean Sheehy and music by Wilhelm Bros. & Co. and direction and stage design by Thaddeus Phillips, Opening night is set for Thursday, May 1 at 7pm. This Original Broadway Cast Recording, a two-disc set, will be released by PS Classics on June 3. The production is currently playing at the American Airlines Theatre through August 10, 2014.
