???????As the summer ends and the fall 2017 concert season comes into view, Kent Tritle will be found playing an organ recital at Himmerod Abbey, a Cistercian monastery in Grosslittgen, Germany. From there, it is off and running - the 2017-18 season for "New York's foremost choral conductor" (The New Yorker) is highlighted by the world premieres of two works with the Oratorio Society of New York, Sanctuary Road, an oratorio about the Underground Railroad by Paul Moravec, libretto by Mark Campbell, commissioned by the OSNY, and Behzad Ranjbaran's We Are One; concerts with the Cathedral Choir of St. John the Divine including a program celebrating the immigrant history of New York in collaboration with early/world music group Rose of the Compass that includes the world premiere of a commissioned work by Robert Sirota, and a program of Kodaly, Stravinsky, and Part's Miserere; programs of repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to Morton Lauridsen with Musica Sacra; and Bach's St. John Passion with ensembles and soloists from the Manhattan School of Music.

For two glittering weekends at the end of May, the world turns its attention to the movie event of the year: TheCaan Film Festival at Museum of the Moving Image. In celebration of the Bronx-born, Sunnyside-raised, and Sanford Meisner-instructed actor, the film series revisits twelve of James Caan's greatest performances, from May 19 through 28, with nearly all films presented in 35mm. The films feature performances for such great directors as Francis Ford Coppola, Howard Hawks, Michael Mann, Sam Peckinpah, Mark Rydell, Norman Jewison, Wes Anderson, and James Gray.

Continuing this tradition, Gelsey Kirkland Ballet announced today the next program of its 2016/2017 season will be Russian Treasures featuring Marius Petipa's hilarious one-act comedy Cavalry Halt, as well as pieces by Leonid Yakobson, Leonid Lavrovsky, and Kasyan Goleizovsky.

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), closes its 75th anniversary season with Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland on April 27, 2017 at 7pm at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019). The production will be conducted and directed by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling and will feature Kelli O'Hara (Contrary Mary), Bill Irwin (Master Toymaker), Christopher Fitzgerald (Alan), Lauren Worsham (Jane), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Tom Tom), Jonathan Freeman (Uncle Barnaby), Chris Sullivan (Gonzorgo), Jeffrey Schecter (Roderigo), Michael Kostroff (Chief Inspector Marmaduke), and Blair Brown (The Narrator), with the 130 singers of MasterVoices and Orchestra of St. Luke's. New Season of THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD IN 100 PERFORMANCES WITH ADAM GOPNIK Launches

A new season of The History of the World in 100 Performances with Adam Gopnik begins on Monday, April 3, at the David Rubenstein Atrium, with a look at the career of the great American soprano Leontyne Price. Joining Gopnik are internationally renowned soprano Renee Fleming and rising soprano Julia Bullock. Interspersed with audio and video clips, they will discuss Ms. Price's extraordinary career and the significance of the pioneering African-American soprano's role on the world's stages. Ms. Bullock will also sing several of Ms. Price's signature arias. The entire evening will be streamed on Facebook Live on Lincoln Center's Facebook Page.

The Cincinnati Arts Association will present Kodo - the world's foremost professional taiko company which has singularly played the most important role in popularizing modern taiko drumming. Sotheby's recently announced that David Korins, Tony-nominated set designer for Hamilton the musical and the recently-opened Dear Evan Hansen - among his many other accomplishments - will serve as Creative Director for Sotheby's Americana Week. David will design a multi-floor installation in our New York headquarters, responding to the centuries of American history and craftsmanship on view. The Americana Week exhibitions open to the public today 11 January.
