California Shakespeare Theater Announces its 2010 Season

California Shakespeare Theater Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone today announced his plans for his 10th anniversary season, which includes the company's first world premiere in more than 25 years, a return to the provocative comedy of George Bernard Shaw, and brand-new productions featuring two of Shakespeare's most intriguing couples.

Tamzin Outhwaite to Lead Cast in SWEET CHARITY at the Menier Chocolate Factory

Matthew White is to direct Tamzin Outhwaite as Charity Hope Valentine in the Tony Award-winning musical Sweet Charity at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Sweet Charity previews from 21 November with press night on 02 December, and runs until 07 March 2010. The box office opens for general public bookings at noon on Thursday 17 September. With book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, choreography is by Stephen Mear, set design by Tim Shortall, costume design by Matthew Wright, musical supervision and direction by Nigel Lilley, orchestrations by Chris Walker, lighting by David Howe and sound design by Gareth Owen.

LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's new initiative devoted to producing work of emerging playwrights, directors and designers, has announced casting for STUNNING, the second production of its inaugural season. Sas Goldberg, Danny Mastrogiorgio, Cristin Milioti, Steven Rattazzi, Jeanine Serralles and Charlayne Woodard will be featured in STUNNING, a new play by David Adjmi, to be directed by Anne Kauffman. STUNNING will begin performances Monday, June 1 at 8pm, open Thursday, June 18 at 6:45pm and run through Saturday, June 27 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, (229 W. 42 Street).

Lawrence Edelson, Producing Artistic Director of ALT, has announced that the company has commissioned The Golden Ticket, a new opera based on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In his announcement, Edelson explained that all of Dahl's beloved characters find a unique voice in this exciting new opera. 'If thoughts of Augustus Gloop being swept away in the Chocolate River, Violet Beauregarde inflating like a giant blueberry, Mike Teavee being demagnified into the tele-dimension, and Veruca Salt being thrown down the rubbish shoot by a gang of nut-inspecting squirrels sound like your idea of a fun night at the opera - or better yet, unlike any night at the opera or theater you've ever experienced - The Golden Ticket is....just the ticket!'

Lawrence Edelson, Producing Artistic Director of American Lyric Theater, has announced that Kyrian Friedenberg, the ten-year old singer, violinist and actor most recently seen in Gypsy with Patty LuPone on Broadway, has been cast as Charlie Bucket in ALT's upcoming workshop and reading of The Golden Ticket, a new opera based on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Speaking of the young performer, Edelson said that 'Kyrian has a wonderful voice, is incredibly musical, and has charisma that is truly contagious. After hearing him sing Charlie's first act Aria from The Golden Ticket, I had no doubt that he was the right boy to bring Roald Dahl's classic character to life in our upcoming workshop.'

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, has announced additional casting and complete details for the World Premiere of INKED BABY, a new play by 2007 Susan Smith Blackburn nominee Christina Anderson in her Off-Broadway playwriting debut. Directed by Kate Whoriskey (Fabulation at Playwrights Horizons, the current Ruined at MTC), the production will begin previews on Thursday, March 5, 2009 with an Opening Night set for Monday, March 23 at 7PM.
