EgoPo Classic Theater explores these themes with their season opener Lillian Hellman's THE CHILDREN'S HOUR, staged by special guest director, Adrienne Mackey. EgoPo welcomes guest director Adrienne Mackey, the founder of Swim Pony Performing Arts, to bring this classic to new life. Mackey is a locally celebrated director who creates original and compelling theater using the power of the human voice and the forms of the human body. Her works include The Ballad of Joe Hill for the Live Arts Festival and The Master and Margarita for Mum Puppettheatre. The Metropolitan Opera's 2015-16 Season to Open with OTHELLO

The Metropolitan Opera will open its 131st season on Monday, September 21 with a new production of Verdi's Otello. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts his first Met opening night, a staging by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher of the late Verdi masterpiece based on Shakespeare's tragic drama of jealousy and deceit. Aleksandrs Antonenko, who has starred as the doomed Otello around the world to acclaim, makes his Met role debut opposite rising Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva in her first-ever performances of Otello's innocent wife Desdemona. Željko Lu?i? adds a new role to his company repertory as the evil Iago, as do Dimitri Pittas as Iago's pawn Cassio and Günther Groissböck as the Venetian ambassador Lodovico. Sher's staging will feature scenic design by acclaimed designer Es Devlin in her Met debut; costume design by six-time Tony Award winner Catherine Zuber; lighting design by two-time Tony winner Donald Holder; and video design by Luke Halls in his Met debut. EgoPo Marks 10 Years Since Being 'Stranded' in Philly; THE CHILDREN'S HOUR to Open This Fall

Ten years ago, Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans displacing thousands of people and flooding the streets. On August 27, 2005, EgoPo arrived in Philadelphia to begin technical rehearsals for a production of The Maids x 2, a ground-breaking version of Jean Genet's classic, The Maids. Three days later, EgoPo was stranded in Philadelphia as a result of Katrina. Their home in New Orleans, The Jewel Theater, was destroyed along with the homes of most of the company members. Actress Regina Taylor to Perform with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, 11/13

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to announce that award-winning actress, playwright and director Regina Taylor will be narrating poems of Dr. Maya Angelou during the world premiere performances of newly-commissioned orchestral works Nov. 13-14 at historic Music Hall. The works, written by pre-eminent American composers Jonathan Bailey Holland, Kristin Kuster and T.J. Cole, are based on Dr. Angelou's poems “Forgive,” “Elegy” and “Equality,” which Ms. Taylor will narrate as part of the performance of the works. The concerts (11 a.m. Nov. 13 and 8 p.m. Nov. 14) mark the culmination of the CSO's annual One City, One Symphony initiative, designed to bring people together through music. Also on the concert program is Dvo?ák's beloved Symphony No. 9 (“From the New World”) and Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 2.  (more...)

The Ogunquit Playhouse is thrilled to be the first regional theatre in the country to produce the Tony Award-winning musical Million Dollar Quartet, on stage August 19 to September 19. This high voltage rock 'n roll show, with book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, is inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session that brought together music icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for one of the greatest jam sessions of all time.
