Rehearsals have begun for "Seminar," the sexy, smart new comedy starring Jeff Goldblum, an Academy Award and Emmy Award-nominee. "Seminar," by Pulitzer Prize finalist and "Smash" creator Theresa Rebeck and directed by Obie Award-winner Sam Gold, begins previews October 10 and opens October 17, 2012, at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. 41N 50W is the last known position of the Titanic before she sank at 2.20am on 15th April 1912 during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. 41N 50W is a unique new play written by Robert Neal Marshall, adapted from over 1,100 pages of the original 1912 Senate Hearings. Readings of the play will be presented at the St. James Studio Theatre on 4 and 5 October 2012. (more...)

Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron's FUN HOME to Have Public Theater Lab, 10/17-11/4

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced today that FUN HOME, a new musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, will open the 2012-2013 season of the Public Lab, a program designed to connect audiences and artists in the process of creating new theater. Directed by Sam Gold, FUN HOME is based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel and will run Wednesday, October 17 through Sunday, November 4 in The Public's Shiva Theater. Member tickets are $12 and are on sale now. Single tickets, priced at $15, go on sale Tuesday, September 18. (more...)

The new season, the 46th season at the Music Center of Los Angeles, will include Jeff Goldblum in the West Coast premiere of the smart, sexy, new Broadway comedy "Seminar," Rachel York in the beloved 1930s musical romp - Cole Porter's "Anything Goes," the American premiere and pre-Broadway presentation of the dramatic musical "Backbeat" which features classic rock 'n' roll in its story of the birth of the Beatles, Tracie Bennett starring as the iconic Judy Garland in the West Coast premiere of the acclaimed play with music - "End of the Rainbow," and the daring new musical that explores a shocking event in American history - Kander and Ebb's "The Scottsboro Boys." In addition, the exuberant musical "Fela!" will return for a limited engagement as a bonus option to the season subscription. (more...)

Almeida Theatre Announces THE TURN OF THE SCREW Casting

Lindsay Posner returns to the Almeida to direct Rebecca Lenkiewicz' new stage adaptation of Henry James' The Turn of the Screw from 18 January - 16 March 2013, with press night on 24 January. Vassar Drama Department Presents LYSISTRATA, 12/6-8

The Vassar Drama department will present three performances of Aristophanes' comedic satire about war and sex, Lysistrata, directed by guest artist Ianthe Demos, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 6, 7, and 8, at 8:00pm, in the Martel Theater of the Vogelstein Center for Drama and Film. Demos, a 2000 Vassar graduate, co-founded the critically acclaimed One Year Lease theater company (OYL) in 2001 and their work has been widely praised by the New York Times and New York magazine among other outlets. Kenneth Branagh in Talks to Helm Disney's CINDERELLA Remake

Vulture reports that Disney has found the director to take on its impending CINDERELLA remake. Just a few weeks after original director Mark Romanek dropped out, the studio has reportedly tapped Kenneth Branagh to replace him.
