Barrowman is said to have a recurring role for several episodes on the upcoming season. The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. Paul Gemignani, Mr. Sondheim's longtime collaborator, will conduct the New York Philharmonic; Lonny Price is the director; and Mr. Price and Matt Cowart are the producers.

LONG BEACH, CA-There was once a simpler time in America, specifically at the turn of the 20th century, when hope and tradition were the norm and the promise of progress was tangible in the age of new mechanized machinery. That antiquated era of traditional family dynamics is the setting for MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS, playing through November 15 at Long Beach's Musical Theatre West. Set within the proper backdrop of the Missouri Landscape as its citizens prepare for the arrival of the 1904 World's Fair, this family-friendly musical has charm, sweetness, and abundance of 'old-fashioned-ness' that it wears proudly on its sleeve with no amount of irony or a winking acknowledgment of its current modern audience. The show is filled with appeal but lacks the kind of edge or 'wow' factor that is so much more present in material that succeeded it. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's not exactly it's best asset either.

It was an early morning for fans of Olivier nominated stage star John Barrowman today in the U.K. Beginning at 7.45am, fans braved the cold to start the queue at Dress Circle to have their copies of Barrowman's new autobiography 'I Am What I Am' signed by the star. By 11.00am the queue was over 200 and snaking around the block. Despite the grey day, reportedly a good time was had by all.
A memorial service has been set for American conductor and musical theatre archivist John McGlinn. The public service will take place at Merkin Hall (129 West 67th Street) at 2pm on McGlinn's birthday, September 18.
