BWW Recap: 'Life's a Shipwreck' on BOARDWALK EMPIRE
by Jessica Naftaly - Oct 6, 2014

BOARDWALK EMPIRE came in strong this week with assassination attempts, affairs, pregnancies and cockroaches galore! The fifth episode of BOARDWALK's final season entitled 'King of Norway' was one of the best of this season as we had some real movement and development. One of the biggest issues I had with the last four episodes was that as we neared the halfway mark of the last season, there was still no clear direction or driving force for the season. We had through line connecting all the dots and pointing us to what to expect coming forward and now, we're finally laying the groundwork for the real major plot points of the season. More than halfway there, it seems like these last four episodes were one big premiere episode, laying the groundwork for the actual season. (more...)

BWW Review: DISGRACED Will Leave You Stunned

It clearly is more than evident at this dinner: politics and religion are two topics one would consider to be off topic at any social gathering. BWW Review: Reality Is Served in ArtsWest's MY MANANA COMES

I do not enjoy watching scary movies because I cannot remove myself from the horror that is being screened before my eyes. Directed by Laurence Connor, with choreography by Scott Ambler, impressive set design by Paul Brown, Maria Bjornson's Tony Award-winning original costume design, and evocative lighting design by Paule Constable, the show is a visual spectacle that has enough magical effects to transport the audience to the Paris Opera House in the late 19th century. BWW Recap: 'The Castle' Collapses on FARGO
by Kaitlin Milligan - Dec 8, 2015

Anxiety. That is how I felt for over half of episode 9 of FARGO, 'The Castle.' There is so much to discuss, but I can't begin this recap without talking about the UFO! The entire season there have been very small glimpses into there being an alien undertone, but we never had any direction for it. In this episode is the most glaringly obvious indication of it: a giant UFO hovers over the carnage at the motel, distracting Bear long enough for Lou to kill him. However, other than it appearing, there is no explanation to it. It just hovers for 30 seconds and then disappears. I wish I had some interesting observation about the symbolism of the UFO, but I honestly have no idea where showrunner Noah Hawley is going with this. I'm just hoping for an explanation in the finale. (more...)
