Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - has announced the winners of their first annual vocal competition, "NextGen: Finding The Voices of Tomorrow." The First Place female winner is Nia Savoy (Howard University) and the First Place male winner is Evan LaChance (The Catholic University of America).

This spring Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) joins in international centennial celebrations for choreographer Jerome Robbins and composer Leonard Bernstein with an all-Robbins program featuring three company premieres. "UPMC Presents West Side Story Suite + In the Night + Fancy Free" with the PBT Orchestra takes the stage May 4-6, at the Benedum Center.

Kronos Quartet/Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA) is proud to announce the fourth group of composers for Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire. Launched in 2015, Kronos' Fifty for the Future is an exciting partnership with Carnegie Hall and others to create 50 new works - by 25 women and 25 men - expressly for the training of students and emerging professionals. Leonard Bernstein was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He took piano lessons as a boy and attended the Garrison and Boston Latin Schools. At Harvard University, he studied with Walter Piston, Edward Burlingame-Hill, and A. Tillman Merritt, among others. Before graduating in 1939, he made an unofficial conducting debut with his own incidental music to 'The Birds,' and directed and performed in Marc Blitzstein's 'The Cradle Will Rock.' Then at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, he studied piano with Isabella Vengerova, conducting with Fritz Reiner, and orchestration with Randall Thompson. 

Artistic Director Julie Kent is delighted to announce The Washington Ballet's participation in the 85th Anniversary Season of the 2017 Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival at the invitation of Jacobs Pillow Director Pamela Tatge.

De Valois, Balanchine & Robbins, The Sarasota Ballet's final program of the Season, will open at the Sarasota Opera House on April 28 and features four works by three of the great masters of the dance world. These performances mark the Company premieres of George Balanchine's Valse-Fantaisie and Jerome Robbin's Fancy Free and is the first time The Sarasota Ballet will perform a ballet by Jerome Robbins. The program will be accompanied with live music by the Sarasota Orchestra, conducted by Ormsby Wilkins-Music Director of American Ballet Theatre.

The Washington Ballet (TWB) presents the world premiere of Ethan Stiefel's Frontier next month, a ballet inspired by President Kennedy and his space travel aspirations for America.

San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has announced its 2017-18 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. In addition, this October, the Company will once again participate in World Ballet Day LIVE, a day-long streaming event (details to be announced).

Artistic Director Julie Kent and Morgann Rose have announced today that Ms. Rose will retire from The Washington Ballet (TWB) at the end of the 2016.2017 season.

The Washington Ballet (TWB) presents Aladdin, an original adaptation of the 'Arabian Nights' tale about the adventures of a poor yet carefree street urchin named Aladdin who falls in love with a Princess, discovers a magic lamp and escapes the villainous plans of an evil magician who vies to overtake the throne. Aladdin features original choreography by CeCe Farha, instructor at The Washington School of Ballet and founding company member of Ballet Oklahoma, along with Arabic and classical musical arrangements from Cairo Arabic Music Ensemble, Praha Philharmonic Orchestra,  Cirque de Soleil and others.
