Each summer, the Warner Theatre Center For Arts Education offers three exciting opportunities for arts education and enrichment for young people ages 5-16, through the Summer Arts Program. Learn all about the ins and outs of theatre and have a chance to perform in one of our summer productions. Sessions are offered to ages 5-16 and begin on July 9.

Rubicon Theatre presents a timely and trenchant production of Shakespeare's tragedy KING LEAR as the centerpiece of the company's 20th Anniversary Season. Directed by Co-Founder James O'Neil, the production features a 20-member cast led by acclaimed actor and company memberGeorge Ball, who has starred in previous Rubicon productions of All My Sons, Man of La Mancha, and Jacques Brel… (New York, L.A., and international companies of the latter).

2018 marks the 200th Anniversary of Frankenstein's publication. Mary Shelley was just 18 years old when she started writing it, and all of 20 by the time the first edition came out. Never out of print since, this enthralling tale of a mad scientist, who creates a grotesque but intelligent creature from assembled body parts is not only a seminal work of gothic horror, but also one of the earliest examples of science fiction literature. British author, Brian Aldiss (who would later write an unauthorised sequel - Frankenstein Unbound), is one of many literary luminaries to make the case that Shelley's book should be considered the very first science fiction novel, because it 'turns to modern experiments in the laboratory' to inspire and rationalise its fantastic events. Giving rise to countless imitators, Frankenstein has also spawned hundreds of stage and screen adaptations over the years - probably the most well-known being James Whale's haunting 1931 movie version starring Boris Karloff in what would become an iconic interpretation of The Creature, and Kenneth Branagh's flashy 1994 film, which featured a sensitive 'method' interpretation of Frankenstein's tragic creation from Robert De Niro.

The Shed's Artistic Director and CEO Alex Poots today unveiled the first group of commissions for the 2019 inaugural season in its future home on Manhattan's west side, and provided major updates about the organization's leadership, program, and capital campaign. New York City's first arts center dedicated to commissioning, producing, and presenting new work across the performing arts, visual arts, and popular culture, The Shed will open to the public in spring 2019 with commissioned programs filling its iconic and expansive multi-use hall, two floors of column-free galleries, and versatile and intimate theater.

After a five year wait and a multitude of life changes, the country music star will release his new album Seasons Change on March 16 which includes his smash hit song 'Five More Minutes.'

Last night, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center artist Sean Lee announced the ensemble's upcoming season at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance from the Elizabeth Morse Genius Stage. The 2018-19 series will mark the eighth year of CMS's ongoing residency in Chicago.

St. Ann's Warehouse presents Baxter Theatre Centre's The Fall, a vital new production devised collaboratively by a group of University of Cape Town graduates, re-enacting their revolt against a fraught symbol looming over their campus: a statue of 19th century colonialist Cecil Rhodes.

The 5th Avenue Theatre is a vibrant hive of musical theater activity as the projects of NextFest: A Festival of New Musicals have started rehearsals this week. The Warner Stage Company will present Frank McCourt's THE IRISH…AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY, a musical celebration of Irish heritage filled to the brim with humor, stories and heart, in the Nancy Marine Studio Theatre March 10-18. Due to popular demand, an additional performance has been added onThursday, March 15 at 8 pm. Slainte!

From The Charleston to The Great American Sognbook, with Scott Joplin, Marilyn Monroe and even Yidish, the brilliant piano duo Stephanie Trick (USA) and Paolo Alderighi (Italy) performed their arrangements of songs and tunes by all these and many more while performing on a tour around Israel as part of the Hot Jazz Series.

Like Andy Warhol, another well-known, towheaded, Avant Garde artist who pushed the boundaries of his art form, Klaus Kinski was one of the most celebrated and controversial actors in the history of world cinema. The reckless abandon with which he approached both life and art left him tortured, demonized and worshiped by scores of his fans. And since the German actor died in November 1991, there is no way to speak with him now about what motivated him and why he felt so tortured throughout his life. The project first germinated when writer/actor Andrew Perez lined up interviews with Phyllis Winter (a very close friend during the last 10 years of Kinski's life in Lagunitas, CA) and her daughter Sara to learn more about the temperamental artist. He then worked hand in hand with director Eric G. Johnson to interview the two women which led to the creation of a theatrical tribute to the outspoken artist entitled THE SECOND COMING OF KLAUS KINSKI, a hit at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival which is now enjoying an open-ended encore run on Thursday nights at Studio C on Hollywood's Theatre Row.

This morning, Ringling College of Art and Design announced it has received its largest single gift and the first eight-figure gift since the institution was founded in 1931. The generous donation of $15 million was given by Board of Trustees' member Dr. Joel Morganroth and his wife Dr. Gail Morrison Morganroth.

Portland Stage is pleased to present Babette's Feast, running Jan 23 through Feb 18 on the Mainstage. This production of Babette's Feast was conceived and developed by Portland Stage Affiliate Artist Abigail Killeen in a process that began over a decade ago. The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra (KSO) Lindy hops back to two Swing Eras for it's November 18th show at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Experience true blasts from the past as the KSO's 18-piece swing band provides a history lesson with the authentic sounds of the original Swing Era (1931-1943); followed the crazy jump tunes of the 1990s revival featuring the 10-piece Covington Devou-Doo Daddies. Learn how the depression, world conflict, and the need for diversion came together to generate the great American musical genre known as Swing.

Before the holidays Portland Ovations Offstage announced the inaugural class of six Offstage Ambassadors. The class, comprised of sophomores and juniors from four area high schools, have been selected after a rigorous application process for this dynamic semester-long opportunity to explore what a professional commitment to the performing arts truly entails and to help spread the word about the power of the performing arts. By selecting this core group of students, Ovations Offstage hopes to establish and nurture a vital link to their peers regarding the arts, both locally and nationally.

Make-Believe Association, led by Executive Producer Jeremy McCarter, will launch its career as an independent Chicago-based production company by inaugurating a new holiday tradition: a starry free reading of Thornton Wilder's one-act masterpiece, The Long Christmas Dinner.

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County and Segerstrom Center for the Arts will co-present Tod Browning's 1931 film classic DRACULA starring Bela Lugosi with original music by Philip Glass performed live by the legendary composer at the piano, the Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet, with Michael Riesman directing from the keyboard.

Actors Co-0p Theatre Company (Ovation Award-Winner 2014 Best Intimate Theatre Musical for 110 in the Shade) presents the second show in its 26th Season, George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's beloved comedy classic THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER.
