The Susan B. Anthony Project, in conjunction with LoveArtPlay, will present Eve Ensler's THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, on Friday, February 15 at 7:00 pm in the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre as a special fundraiser. An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who "liked to look at it."
It would not be the holiday season without the timeless joy of THE NUTCRACKER! The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory will present the full-length version of the classic tale on the Warner Theatre's Main Stage December 15 and 16. All dance roles will feature trainees of The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory, along with cameo roles performed by children from the Torrington School of Ballet. These budding artists come from all over the country to hone their craft and develop their artistry at The Nutmeg. The mysterious Dr. Drosselmeyer will once again be played by accomplished European stage actor Thomas Evertz.

The public is invited to a special screening of the documentary "BUILDING A GREAT LIFE" on Thursday, October 18 at 5:30 PM in the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre. The event is free, but registration is required. The one-hour documentary explores how the notion of closing state institutions in favor of community living for persons with intellectual disabilities is both a moral and fiscal debate. Light refreshments will be served and a facilitated discussion will follow the meeting.

Stop the presses! The Warner Stage Company will present Disney's NEWSIES on the Main Stage November 3-11, 2018, sponsored by Thomaston Savings Bank. Set in NYC at the turn of the century, this is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies' who dream of only a better life far from the hardship of the streets. The story is inspired by the real-life 'Newsboy Strike of 1899,' when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphaned newsies on an action against powerful newspaper publishers. High energy and with non-stop thrills, the stage version introduces eight brand-new songs by the original team of Alan Menken and Jack Feldman while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film. The Warner Stage Company production of Disney's NEWSIES is directed by Richard McKenna with music director Jim Luurtsema, choreographer Sharon W. Houk and associate choreographer Caitlin Nolan Beaudry.

The festival is a two-night celebration of new works by playwrights from across the country and around the globe. For the seventh year, 150 plays were submitted from across the United States and as far away as Portugal. Nine winners have been selected.
