Spanish conductor Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos returns to the New York Philharmonic to conduct music from two secular cantatas: selections from Falla's Atlantida, and Orff's complete Carmina burana - which the Orchestra has not performed since 1995 - tonight, May 31, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 1, at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 2, at 8:00 p.m. The international cast that Mr. Fru?hbeck has assembled for these performances features American soprano Erin Morley, American tenor Nicholas Phan (in his Philharmonic debut), South African baritone Jacques Imbrailo (debut), the Spanish chorus Orpheo?n Pamplone?s, Igor Ijurra Ferna?ndez, director (debut), and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Dianne Berkun, director. New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Music Director Jacques Lacombe will be knighted by the National Order of Quebec, the Order has announced. According to the Order, its titleholders "are outstanding individuals who have helped increase Quebec's renown and left a strong, lasting mark on all or part of Quebec itself." "It is an honor to receive this recognition from the National Order of Quebec," Lacombe says, "not only as a musician but also as a person who believes in making connections with the communities in which I work-in Canada, in the United States and abroad." "We are proud that Quebec is recognizing Jacques for the exceptional artistry and leadership that the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and its patrons across and beyond the state have witnessed in the two years he has been Music Director," says NJSO President & CEO Andre Gremillet. "The honor is richly deserved." Since becoming the NJSO's Music Director in October 2010, Lacombe has garnered praise from critics and audiences for his creative programming and his talents at the podium. Es ist ein schöner sonniger Tag in Berlin. Ich bin mit Daniela Ziegler in einem kleinen Café in Charlottenburg verabredet. Sie kommt mit dem Fahrrad - ganz schön sportlich. Daniela Ziegler ist charmant, sieht blendend aus und plaudert mit mir offen und herzlich über ihre lange Karriere. Sie ist eine Frau mit vielen Facetten und hat eine lange, erfolgreiche Vita an TV, Film und Theaterprojekten vorzuweisen, ist Schauspielerin und Musicaldarstellerin mit Leidenschaft. Wir konzentrieren uns im Gespräch 'nur' auf ihre Musicalrollen und reden beinahe zwei Stunden. Es gibt viel zu erzählen, verkörperte die Ziegler doch so illustre und unterschiedliche Charaktere wie Eva Peron, Velma Kelly, Norma Desmond und ab September die Erzherzogin Sophie in 'Elisabeth', Harry Kupfers Jubiläumsinszenierung zum 20.
