No Strings is a musical drama with a book by Samuel A. Taylor and words and music by Richard Rodgers, his only Broadway score for which he wrote both lyrics and music, and the first musical he composed after the death of his long-time collaborator Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical opened on Broadway in 1962 and ran for 580 performances. It received the nomination for Tony Award, Best Musical.

In its 2017-18 season, the Grammy-nominated self-conducted chamber music collective A Far Cry joins pianist Simone Dinnerstein to premiere a new concerto for piano and strings composed for Dinnerstein by Philip Glass. In celebration of the composer's 80th birthday, select premiere performances of the concerto, paired with J. S. Bach's Keyboard Concerto in G minor, will take place in Boston, MA; New London, CT; at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University, NY; in Worcester, MA; Palm Beach, FL; and at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. A recording of the work for Glass' Orange Mountain Music label is scheduled for release in 2018.

The tour will be the first time an orchestra of this size has traveled to the U.S. from Cuba since the revolution.

The Pasadena Symphony closes out its 2016-2017 Singpoli Classics Serieswith Beethoven Symphony No. 9 on April 29 with both matinee and evening performances at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Ambassador Auditorium.
