by Ben Peltz - Oct 9, 2012

It was a very clever idea playwright Jeffrey Hatcher had, to write a Chekhovian style comedy about American theatre's royal couple, Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, set in their country home as they prepare to go into rehearsal for a production of The Seagull.  And Ten Chimneys, named after the Wisconsin estate that provides the play's setting, frequently lives up to that cleverness; though its wit could be somewhat sharper and its character study could go a bit deeper in order to match the potential of the idea. by Ben Peltz - Oct 15, 2012

I'll spare you any idioms regarding the distance between apples and trees while examining the newest work of Daisy Foote, the playwright who carries on the lineage of one of America's treasured dramatist, the late Horton Foote.  But comparison is inevitable as the daughter's most recent work has a similar voice to that of her father; just differently accented. Most of all, Burgess and I dissect the finer points of his sophomore solo album, COMFORTABLE, and he explains his songwriter process and progress, as well as the many influences and inspirations that have infused this passion project over the course of its years in writing, recording, and, now, finally, releasing. BWW Blog: Greg Reuter - The Talent Crush
by Guest Blogger: Greg Reuter - Oct 11, 2012

Today, I want to explore something that we have all experienced, whether we wanted to or not. The talent crush. Urban Dictionary defines a talent crush as 'an affection for somebody based solely on their talents.' There you have it. Example- every time I see Meryl Streep or Daniel Day-Lewis in ANYTHING, I get a talent crush. The talent crush has nothing to do with a schoolboy crush. It is often asexual. It overtakes you when you see someone do something artistically that stops time for you… (more...)
