The award winning Arvada Center will open Miracle on 34th Street, The Musical directed by Gavin Mayer on November 27 running through December 23, 2012 in the Main Stage Theater. The musical is based on the story "Miracle on 34th Street" by Valentine Davies; book, music and lyrics were written and composed by Meredith Willson (The Music Man and The Unsinkable Molly Brown). Performances are Tuesday - Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Preview performances are November 23 - 25. Moderated talkbacks with the cast are offered on Friday, December 7 after 7:30 p.m. show and Wednesday, December 12 after 1:00 p.m. show. Christian Youth Theater - North Idaho (CYT-NI) says 'Be Our Guest' for something magical! Step into the enchanted world of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Nov 1-11 at the Salvation Army Kroc Community Theater, 1765 W.Golf Course Rd., Coeur d'Alene, ID. Seventy-eight local school children ages 8-18 make up the cast with an additional 25+ on crew all overseen by 65+ adult volunteers. All of The Children are currently taking theater arts classes in CYT's fall session of their after-school theater arts education program. (more...)

CYT-North Idaho's Belle from their upcoming fall musical will be reading to children twice at 11 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. at the Coeur d'Alene Library today, October 30. Susan Thorpe of the Coeur d'Alene Children's Library will choose a book for Belle to read to the two and three year olds at 11 and to older elementary school children at 4. Belle will share her love of reading with The Children as well as sing a song from the Broadway show and be available for pictures and someone will win two tickets to the performances. (more...)

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Through the Yellow Hour, a play written and directed by Adam Rapp (Pulitzer Prize finalist for Red Light Winter). The first production of the company's 18th season, Through the Yellow Hour will begin performances on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place-off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry and West 11th Streets). An oil portrait of the late Suzanne Lemberg Usdan, a Founding Trustee of the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, has been donated to the Center by Dr. Jerrold Ross, a former Trustee of the Center and its longtime President. Dr. Ross is Dean of the Department of Education at St. John's University in Queens, and Academic Vice Presidentof the University's Staten Island campus. The portrait, painted by internationally known artist Norman Blackwell, commemorates the 10th anniversary of Mrs. Usdan's death. (more...)

Sightings of a mysterious green figure wearing a Santa suit have been occurring throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, and activity has been traced back to Children's Theatre Company (CTC) and its current tenant, The Grinch (Grinch). Photographs of Grinch creating chaos in CTC offices and the Whittier neighborhood were found by CTC staff on Monday, October 29. Surveillance camera footage confirms that Grinch has been sneaking around the Target lobby, stealing Dr. Seuss merchandise from kiosks. CTC announced in a recent email broadcast that the holiday cheer threat level has been raised. Watch footage of Grinch caught on camera below! (more...)
