The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents a staged reading of MY PERFECT PET. Marlo Hunter, Founder & Artistic Director of Eating Their Words, will direct a cast that includes Ethan Haberfield (Mary Poppins), Rebecca Lynn Goldfarb (Godspell 2032), David Foley, Jr. (Shrek, National Tour), Caroline Cahill, and Adrienne Asterita in a staged reading of the new family musical MY PERFECT PET. Daniel Feyer (Arnie the Doughnut) serves as music director, with stage management by Lauren Wong and general management by Gretchen Margaroli. This year, The Children's Musical Theater Festival (CMTF) features 60 theater-loving kids from all over the world, performing in two family-friendly musicals, created by up-and-coming theater writers. CMTF nurtures and educates these aspiring young actors who are selected to participate in a weeklong educational program, culminating in performances of the selected original works. Although the plot of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat may seem more like a 21st century reality show than something based on a Bible story, this rollicking musical by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice is pure family entertainment. A multi-generational cast from Paul's Players will produce this popular show on July 26, 27, and 28, 2012, 7:30 p.m., at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 27475 Five Mile Road, Livonia. Cutting Ball Theater closes its 12th season with the adventurous RISK IS THIS…THE CUTTING BALL NEW EXPERIMENTAL PLAYS FESTIVAL, one of the only play festivals in America solely dedicated to experimental works for the stage. This year's festival, which will run June 8 to July 14, features two new works and five new translations in staged readings. Imagination Stage in Bethesda, MD has embarked on a new adventure with its current production of C.S. Lewis' beloved tale, The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe. In collaboration with The Washington Ballet, it has succeeded in putting forth a theatrical revelation- a production that's not a ballet, a musical, or a straight play, but something in between. Although Imagination Stage is generally very much geared towards children, theatre and dance-loving adults are likely to be enamored with this piece, including those who come to the theatre without children! Cast members Lauren Palmeri and Andrew Betz read from the traditional fairy tale 'Beauty and the Beast' to patients in The Children's Library. ACT - A Contemporary Theatre is pleased to announce the American premiere of lauded playwright Alan Ayckbourn's Sugar Daddies, directed by Ayckbourn himself, as one of the six mainstage selections in the 2013 Season. ACT Artistic Director Kurt Beattie invited Ayckbourn to direct during a meeting in 2011 in England. The opportunity to collaborate in person is the result of ACT's commitment to and success with Ayckbourn's work, which has engendered a lasting artistic relationship. SPORTS PLAY, an unflinching exploration of the close relationship between sports, nationalism and violence by the Nobel Prize winning author of The Piano Teacher, Elfriede Jelinek, receives its English Language premiere on the eve of the London 2012 Olympic Games in Lancaster.
